His Awesome Ex Is Now Uncle's Lady (Alicia and Austin) novel Chapter 51

Chapter 51 The Lines We Cross

Alicia’s words came out cold and sharp, leaving David’s chest tight. “So that’s it? You married my uncle just to get even with me?”

Her tone didn’t waver. “Let’s just say I learned my lesson and outgrown fairytales. What I want now is a marriage that’ll actually get me ahead. If that also ruins your day, I’d say I chose well.”

David’s pulse spiked. Right! No way she loves him this fast. The game’s still on; I can still win her back.

A slow grin crept across his face. “Uncle Austin, you hear that? She doesn’t give a d*mn about you; you’re just her ticket to the top.”

Alicia froze. Her shoulders stiffened, and she turned around slowly.

Austin stood atop the staircase, leaning casually against the polished banister. Sunlight streamed through the window, scattering across his face. The red silk tie at his collar caught the light as his calm gaze locked onto her.

His expression stayed inscrutable, and his voice was calm and steady when he said, “Come here.”

Alicia’s stomach fluttered. Their marriage might’ve been all business, but the word “tool” still echoed like a slap. She knew better than to underestimate David. The man wasn’t harmless-he was a predator dressed in charm. One wrong move, and he’d tear someone apart just to remind the world he could.

She approached Austin, her heartbeat racing. Before she could react, he reached out and pulled her close against his chest. Then, he spoke calmly, “Her past isn’t my concern. Starting today, you call her Aunt Alicia.”

The room fell silent. David blinked, struggling to grasp what he had just heard. To him, his uncle-stoic and logical Austin Burton-was not someone to indulge in games.

Austin adjusted his cufflink. “There’s a lot to prepare for the wedding. Let’s go.”

Alicia gave a gentle smile. “I’ll follow whatever you decide.”

His tone held quiet authority. “You only marry once. I told you-I don’t do anything halfway.”

She linked her arm with his, effortlessly embodying the ideal fiancée. They walked out together, completely ignoring David.

David stood frozen in place, staring after them like he’d been hit by a train. No. This can’t be real. My girl… my uncle’s wife? What kind of sick joke is this?

Then his gaze fell on Austin’s hand-the platinum band shimmering under the light. A strange chill ran down his spine.

Wait… that night in Southam, the girl in Uncle Austin’s bed was Alicia.

His pulse quickened. And that ring he’s wearing now? It’s the same dmn one she bought to propose to me. I saw it before and thought it was just a coincidence.

Later, he called in a favor and pulled up the club’s security footage from that night. The video showed Alicia standing outside his door, gripping the handle. She hesitated for a long time, then walked away. Her face wasn’t clear, but her body language said it all-hurt, hollow, and done.

Downstairs, she ordered a drink and sat alone. Under the dim lights, she raised her glass, wiped away tears, then kept drinking.

When David left with another woman, she saw him. She didn’t chase, yell, or break down. She just sat there until she started laughing through tears, then stumbled into Austin’s arms.
