His Dangerous Angel (Serena and Sebastian) novel Chapter 126

Serena’s porcelain-white face showed no emotion.

Zayden helped her flag down a cab and sent her off. Only then did Jackson cautiously walk over and ask, “Who is she?”

“Someone close to Mr. Hayes. Just treat her with respect.”

He might not be particularly fond of Serena either, but she had actually pulled off acupuncture anesthesia—and outperformed the specialists brought in by the Jensen family. That alone earned her some serious credit.

Zayden had no problem giving respect where it was due.

Jackson wiped the sweat from his brow. This “backdoor connection” Serena had opened might be far bigger than he thought. He’d definitely kicked the wrong wall.

Less than thirty minutes after Serena left Eagle Jewelers, Craig rushed over.

He jumped out of his sports car and stormed inside.

“Where’s the emerald you mentioned?”

The store manager hurriedly brought out the trimmed-off scrap pieces and showed him a photo of the emerald itself.

The emerald had already been taken away, but the remaining scraps showed a clear, rich green hue beneath the surface.

“Short waterline, but very full. You could easily sell a pendant from that for three to four hundred grand.”

It had been a long time since the store had seen a stone this promising.

Craig stared at the photo. Was this seriously the same stone he’d bought years ago that had become a running joke in the trade?

That uncut gem had once been hyped up to a seven-figure price tag because of its massive one-ton weight. He’d bought it and split it into ten chunks. This particular piece? A few cuts had revealed garbage.

Only the windowed section had some decent jade formation. The rest wasn’t just lacking in color—it hadn’t even finished the mineralization process.

He’d used whatever was usable. The leftovers were chopped into over a hundred pieces and tossed into the store for beginners to play with.

Since they were already cut, their value was clear. Even at just a few hundred bucks, most had never sold. He’d nearly tossed them out several times. And now suddenly, someone had cracked open a vibrant imperial green from one of them?

It wasn’t premium grade, but it was high-end.

“She picked this one just like that?”

The sales assistant thought back. “She only looked for a few minutes. Mr. Nathan, I think it was just luck.”

Though truth be told, the girl had seemed too calm—didn’t even flinch when she hit the jackpot. But those stones had been sitting there for years, looked over by countless professionals. No way some poor kid nailed it by instinct.

The sales assistant was sure of it: poor girls didn’t understand gambling on jade.

Even if it was luck, it was insane luck. Worth investing in.

As for the emeralds, “Your cousin works in this business. I’ll ask him and see if we can get a good price.”

She quickly called Craig. “Our Serena bought an uncut gem today…”

Craig didn’t have time for small talk. “You don’t know the trade. Don’t risk everything trying to flip stones. It’s not as easy as outsiders think. You could lose your shirt. Gotta go.”

He hung up before Olivia could respond. Then he pulled up the store’s payment records and found the only transaction around that price—just a few hundred bucks. He sent a message to the contact: Let’s be friends.

Serena’s phone buzzed. She glanced at it and ignored it.

Back at home, Olivia awkwardly put down her phone. “How about we make a couple pendants? Your aunt’s birthday is coming up—we could give her one as a gift.”

She’d sensed last time that Wendy didn’t particularly like Serena. Olivia figured this might be a good way to smooth things over and let her see Serena’s good side.

Serena nodded.

Meanwhile, Craig sent three messages with no reply. Finally, he transferred a thousand bucks.

This time, Serena replied instantly.

“What do you want?”
