His Dangerous Angel (Serena and Sebastian) novel Chapter 125

"You’d better find someone else to treat your mother."

Patrick panicked. "Didn’t you just say you could treat her?"

Zayden gave a cool tug at the corner of his mouth. "I can. But I can’t do it alone. I need an anesthesiologist assisting me the whole time."

Patrick looked toward the group of anesthesiologists nearby. "Aren’t they?"

These were the ones his scumbag father had paid a fortune to bring in.

The elder leading the group spoke up. "The patient’s condition is unique. Normal acupuncture anesthesia won’t cut it. You need someone elite."

They didn’t want to admit they’d been outdone by a girl. But calling her an elite master — and admitting they weren’t quite at that level — helped them save face.

"You weren’t the ones in the OR earlier?" Patrick asked.

The elder waved his hand. "A master did it. Otherwise, there’s no way the surgery would’ve gone so smoothly."

Everyone in the OR had been wearing masks and white coats with caps. They hadn’t clearly seen the girl’s face.

Patrick’s eyes lit up. "Can we get that person to help again?"

"With the way things are now? Good luck." You treated that little menace the way you did earlier — she’d be a fool to help you.

Zayden didn’t waste a single word and walked away.

Now Patrick was truly panicked. Wasn’t this the legendary master his deadbeat father had hired? How could he suddenly turn on them like that?

Was it because he let Celeste get slapped twice? Was Hayes Corp protecting one of their own?

He tracked down the attending physician from the ER to try and get some information.

The attending looked constipated. "The key to Madam Roberts’s condition is the anesthesiologist. Without one, nothing else matters."

Just then, Celeste emerged after applying ointment to her face. She tried to comfort him. "Don’t worry. I met with Mr. Jackson today. He owes me a favor. For my sake, I’m sure he’ll convince Zayden to help."

She had just pulled out her phone when the attending’s phone rang. It was Zayden.

"Five hundred thousand dollars. I can treat her."

He said only that—no explanation, no pleasantries.

The attending felt his scalp go numb.

Thankfully, his phone volume was loud enough that he didn’t have to repeat the message. Otherwise, people might think he was pocketing the money himself.

"If the Jensen family agrees, discharge Yvette and bring her to the school nurse’s office."

Celeste was completely shut down, deeply embarrassed. "It looks like Mr. Jackson can’t help with this either."

She tried to salvage what little dignity she had left.

After being repeatedly humiliated today — and all in front of the guy who supposedly liked her — Celeste felt like luck had totally abandoned her.

Fortunately, Patrick wasn’t the spiteful type. He didn’t say anything. But she couldn’t swallow this humiliation.

What she didn’t know was that the moment Jackson hung up, he rushed straight to the school nurse’s office.

There was only one Zayden he knew — the one who used to be the trusted right hand of that mysterious top boss. They had quite a bit of history.

He’d heard Zayden wasn’t in Ardenos anymore, but had no idea where he’d ended up. Last he heard, Zayden had been tossed into some mining operation in State F. But working as a school nurse in Evervale City? And being looked down on by some high schooler? And even reported to him like this?

Jackson couldn’t believe it, but he had to see it for himself.

Just as he arrived at the school’s back gate, he saw Zayden walking out.

The campus lights were dim, but Jackson recognized him immediately.

"Mr. Jackson..."

Jackson walked up and spotted Serena beside Zayden. His old face flushed red on the spot.
