“I need coffee in my system,” Tonga whined.

“Yeah, I’m hungry. Can we continue the search for your mate when we eat?” Coswell asked. I sighed and nodd We went to the nearest café close to us. As soon as I stepped inside, I smelled the most intoxicating scent. My heart was racing in my chest. My lycan, Aire, was stirring in my head.

My mate is here,” I whispered. Alec, Coswell, and Tonga searched around the place. However, I saw her first. was standing in the corner, looking at me warily. It hurt me that she was wary of me.

“Better. I found my mate,” I informed her. Her face fell instantly with that of pain. However, I was resolute in my decision. I wanted to end all flings with all women and focus on getting back my mate. She was mine, and I refused to let her go.

“B-but I like you. I love you,” she said. I should have known she’d fall for me even though she promised not to.

Liace panicked and grabbed my hands on the table.

‘Aire, Aerys,’ I heard my mother’s voice through the mind link. I sighed, knowing I would get a scolding for not visiting them sooner. It was just that university and office work had been keeping me busy,

‘I’ve been busy, mom. However, I’m finishing in a few months, and I’ll stay in the pack for good,’ told her. She was silent for a moment before she sighed.

‘You are stressed. I knew your father shouldn’t have handed you over his position in the pack so early,’ she sighed. When I turned 22, my father named me the pack’s alpha. He helped me immensely, but I did most of the work and made decisions.

‘It was the right time. It is my responsibility, and I’m not complaining, Mom,’

I ended the mind-link and continued the run. The air felt good in my fur. Aire wasn’t snarling or whimpering at his mate. I froze when I sensed I was being watched; when I turned, I didn’t expect to see Harry.

I felt tears in my eyes as he spoke gently to me.

“I’m a vampire. No lycan alpha would want to be mated with me. They like humans more than our kind,” I chuckled humorlessly. He frowned and lifted his chin.

“You’re a lovable person. He will accept you for who you are,” he assured me. I was still skeptical. Even if he did, his pack wouldn’t, especially with the vampire attacks happening in packs. It would raise issues.

“Can I not tell him for now?”

“Because I want to experience the mate bond before the trouble comes. I will tell him in my own time,” I said slowly. I will accept the alpha but won’t tell him what I was. I just knew that my being a vampire would complicate things between us in the future.

Later that evening, we went to my mate’s house. It was a lovely modern Victorian house in the woods, 5 kilometers from the town. I inhaled and glanced at Harry one more time.

“It’s the right thing to do,” he said firmly. Harry was the first to get out of the jeep, and I followed. My mate’s friends came outside, and the brunette girl with a cheerful smile waved excitedly at me. However, I didn’t see Aerys.

“Harry,” the tall man with brown hair called, walking over to us.

“You’ve brought the Luna,” he bowed to me. Luna, it sounded so strange that he was addressing me as such.

“Call me Elizabeth,” I said. He only nodded politely and shook my hand.

“Hi, Elizabeth. I’m Tonga Alec, here is my mate. Nice to meet you,” Tonga said excitedly, giving me a quick hug.

“Hi, Tonga.”

“Yorna,” she said quietly. Elizabeth had mentioned her to me a few times, but I’d never seen a picture of her.

“Does she know you’re a werewolf?” I retorted.

We trekked back deeper into the territory. I didn’t know how long we talked, but our conversation was enjoyable. The painful ache I felt earlier was slowly fading as she told me about her interests. Yorna, her name, rolled off my tongue. I liked that name. I allowed a smile on my lips as I looked at her again.

I marched inside, her vanilla scent driving me wild. I slammed the door to the lounge open where she was-m mate. My beautiful mate was standing in the corner of the room, her eyes fixed on me. She was breathtaking. “Mate,” Aire breathed. She inhaled and walked over to me.

“O-okay. We can talk in my study room. Follow me, please,” I said. I was so excited but tried to maintain my composure. I glanced back at my friends, and they all silently cheered. I led Elizabeth to the study, and as we we there, I felt her eyes on me. My Lycan was acting like a puppy in love. Once in the study room, she stood against the wall in the corner. What was with her and the corners?

“Take a seat,” I said. I was so humble. She humbled me.

“No, thank you, there is a bra there,” she looked at the sofa. I felt all the color leave my face. Liace was here before I left. She must have left it.

“I don’t know why we are mates, honestly. You and I are from two different worlds,” she was cold in her tone. I whimpered. I fucking whispered. What was happening to me?

“I left to think, and you started fucking girls. Is this how you’ll behave when we get into a disagreement? Fuck your sluts?”

I shook my head and went to her. She raised her hand to stop me in my tracks.

I went to the kitchen where Coswell, Alec, and Tonga were. There was another man there. It got silent when they sensed me. I smiled at Tonga, who smiled back. She was standing behind the counter, cooking something that smelled delicious. The boys were playing cards. I felt eyes on me, and I stared at Coen. He didn’t look impressed by me. I could sense people’s thoughts directed at me. It was another one of my gifts.
