His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 161

“I’ve been so worried about you, Annika. A man like Conrad is ruthless. I was afraid he’d hurt you, so…” Tyler trailed off, unable to bring himself to tell Annika how Nolan had threatened him and run him off. He was a man, after all, and he had his pride, especially in front of the woman he loved.

“Oh, it’s fine,” Annika said with a little, self-assured laugh. “No one can push me around. I can take care of myself.”

Just then, a damp hand reached out, snatched the phone from her grasp, and disconnected the call without a word.

Conrad was fresh from the shower—hair slicked back, a towel at his waist. Water beaded on his chest and slid down his skin, and Annika’s mind went somewhere it shouldn’t. She licked her dry lips, trying to banish the stray thoughts.

By the time she realized he was reading her messages, it was too late. She lunged for it, but Conrad simply raised his hand high above her head.

Being a full head shorter, Annika jumped for it. As she started to lose her balance, she instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist to keep from falling, a move that drew a heavy, ragged breath from him.

Realizing her mistake, Annika struggled to get down, but Conrad wasn't about to let her go. He tossed her onto the bed, her phone landing beside her. Just as she was about to bounce back up, he was on top of her, his damp, clean scent filling her senses as his mouth crashed down onto hers, capturing her lips with unerring precision.

“No… mmmph…”
