His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 177

As Yves reached for her waist, Annika drove her foot forward. With a cry of 'Oof!', Yves doubled over, clutching himself as Annika bolted.

Meanwhile, in a corner of the hall, Zoey approached Yazmin, who was quietly eating alone while Annika was in the restroom. Sliding into Annika's seat, Zoey flashed a dazzling smile. "Yazmin, you actually came?" she said, her eyes scanning the mingling crowd before settling back on Yazmin’s unreadable face. "Aren't you afraid of being laughed at?"

Facing Zoey's provocation, Yazmin remained calm and indulgent. "What do I have to be afraid of? I'm not the other woman. Since when does the wife have to fear the mistress? If you have the audacity to be here, why shouldn't I? The seafood is delicious. Would you like some?" Yazmin offered, holding out a peeled shrimp.

When Zoey didn't take it, Yazmin popped the shrimp into her own mouth. After finishing it, she smiled. "I heard Zander's company ran into some trouble overseas. Do you need the Beryl Group to help out? If you do, I can put in a word with Conrad."

This was a sensitive topic. Zoey glanced around nervously, then moved from Annika's chair to stand beside Yazmin. She leaned in close, speaking in a whisper only they could hear. "Yazmin, Conrad is doing a fantastic job with the Beryl Group. I see his name in international publications all the time. You raised a fine son. We came back to move Z&Z here, not because it's in trouble. In fact, our business is doing very well. But as Zander says, people eventually have to return to their roots, and our roots are in Seafall City."

Zoey’s explanation was flawless, but Yazmin, who knew the ugly side of a woman’s heart, wasn't buying it.

Zoey picked up a glass of wine from the table. "Yazmin, if you hadn't been willing to let go back then, Zander and I wouldn't be where we are today. I thank you for that."

Bringing up the past was like twisting a knife in Yazmin’s chest. Her eyes instantly turned cold. She nodded, then raised her own glass and clinked it hard against Zoey's. "Here's to Z&Z reaching even greater heights."

Just moments before, Yazmin had been so composed, acting as if nothing mattered. But seeing Zander so fiercely protective of Zoey, she finally broke, her eyes turning red with unshed tears.

As Zander turned to chase after Zoey, Yazmin let out two cold laughs. Then, her voice sharp, she commanded, "Stop."

Zander ignored her. Yazmin rushed forward, grabbed his arm, and spat out each word through clenched teeth, "Let me make this perfectly clear. I came here today to cause trouble. Zander, you loved her so much it tore our family apart, so much that you became a drowning rat. What, you couldn't make it overseas and now you want to crawl back for a fresh start? Too bad. No one wants a failure like you. And you won't get a single penny of the Beryl family fortune."
