At the Celestial Club, when Annika and Wayne arrived, there was no sign of Molly. Instead, a lone figure sat on the sofa, a long-fingered hand holding a cigar, white smoke swirling around him. His face, half in shadow and half illuminated by the dim light, looked devilishly wicked.
It was Yves.
Annika's heart skipped a beat. This was clearly a trap, and she knew Yves wasn't targeting Molly—he was after her. Suddenly, a sound came from the adjacent room. Wayne listened closely, his face paling in horror. "That's Molly's voice," he whispered to Annika.
Annika rubbed her forehead and took a deep breath. She turned to Yves. "What do you want?"
Yves's gaze hadn't left Annika since she walked in. Hearing her question, he rose slowly and walked over to her, blowing a puff of smoke in her face. His seductive eyes curved into a wicked, playful smile. "These eighteen hours have felt like an eternity!"
He was referring to the eighteen hours since he'd seen her at the banquet last night. Seeing his lecherous demeanor, Annika spat, "Yves, you're a real piece of shit."
If Annika had known Molly's meeting was with Yves, she never would have let her pursue this deal.
Yves let out a soft chuckle. "Well said."
Annika's eyes blazed with fury. "Yves, what you're doing is illegal!" she screamed.
