"I'll pick you up."
"David—"
"Send me your home address."
Eli fell silent. She couldn't just give him the Miller family's home address. It wasn't because she didn't trust David, but she had never really talked about her family in depth with him.
"You don't have to come all the way to my house. Just pick me up at the bookstore."
"Which bookstore?"
Eli thought for a moment. "Light World in Sentral West."
"What time?"
"Tomorrow at ten."
"All right," David said with a soft sigh.
"Thanks in advance." Eli felt happy because she would get to see David again tomorrow.
However, before their conversation could continue, the voice of a woman came from a distance.
"Hurry up, David. I can't take it anymore. You promised me, didn't you? We can't possibly cancel our Spider-Man movie, can we?"
Eli fell silent. She recognized that voice. It was Natalie.
David sounded as though he had moved slightly away from the phone before answering, "Yeah. I haven't forgotten."
His tone sounded casual, even slightly affectionate. As though he was indeed used to spending time with Natalie.
Eli frowned. "You two ... are going out?"
“Hmm.”
“Why didn’t you tell me yesterday?”
David chuckled softly. “I forgot.”
“Forgot?”
“Yeah. Natalie only just invited me too. If you weren’t going home, I could have spent time with you. Not with someone else.”
Eli fell silent. Something felt uncomfortable in her chest. Not because David was going out with Natalie. At least, she tried to convince herself that it wasn’t a problem.
