HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 1100

“Captain, you can’t judge us too,” Fred protested. “You often ask for our notes after practice too.”

“That’s because you guys take more complete notes.”

“Excuses.”

Laughter broke out again. Their conversation then shifted from college assignments to practice, the schedule for the next game, and even the professor most feared on campus. Eli enjoyed every conversation from where she sat.

She did not have to make any effort to follow their conversation because everything flowed so naturally. Every now and then, she laughed when Kaelen and Rick blamed each other, or when Johan and Fred added more stories about their college lives.

She had not experienced a night like this in a long time.

There were no arguments, no accusations, and no one forcing her to explain anything. She only needed to sit, laugh, and enjoy the company that felt so sincere.

Grace, who was beside her, also laughed several times, while Josh seemed much more relaxed than he had been after the game. For a few hours, the injury to his hand, their loss, and even the various problems waiting outside that house seemed to be forgotten.

When the team members finally began leaving one by one, the atmosphere in the house gradually became quieter.

After everything was over, Eli went to her room to rest.

She was already quite tired after such a long day. She had just lain down and was about to close her eyes when her phone rang. Eli glanced at the screen and immediately saw David’s name.

She had no intention of answering. After a while, the call stopped. But not long afterward, her phone rang again.

Eli sighed and continued to let it ring. The second call stopped, then a third call came in.

David kept calling her repeatedly until Eli felt that she would not be able to sleep peacefully if she continued to ignore him. Reluctantly, she picked up her phone and answered the call.

“Hello?”

“Eli.”

David’s voice sounded from the other end. There was a pause before he continued, as if he himself was still unsure of what he wanted to say.

And for some reason, this time it was David who was not sure of his answer. He reluctantly placed his phone on the nightstand. “It can’t be like this. I have to talk to Eli for a moment. After I find out the truth, can’t I get her forgiveness?”

The next day, Eli returned to Raven University as usual. That was only after a great deal of negotiating with Althea. The woman wanted Eli to be driven to and from campus and not stay in the dorm for the time being. Especially since Althea had seen for herself at the court that there was a girl who was quite bold enough to corner Eli with her words.

But Eli refused. She said, “I can protect myself.”

Chris said, “If words aren’t enough, you can start with one small punch.”

Chris’s words made Naomi squeal happily. She agreed. Sometimes, a girl like Natalie needed to be taught a lesson.

Although he did not fully understand what had happened, Cale added, “If you get into trouble, call me. As long as I’m in SunCity, I have the right to know what you’re doing. Remember, you’re under my supervision.”

Eli smiled widely and moved closer to Cale. Although the man’s words were sometimes cold, stiff, and annoying, Eli knew that deep down, Cale was a good man, affectionate, and cared about her too.

“Of course, Uncle Cale. But if I really do get into trouble and call you, don’t scold me. Because if that happens, it means I can no longer hold myself back.”
