HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 345

**Shadows of the Past – By Emma Clarke**
**Chapter 345**

As the investigation continued to unfold, Arsen found himself navigating the bustling corridors of a serviced apartment, not far from the hospital where tension hung thick in the air. He carried with him stacks of substantial files, each one brimming with crucial information. At Daven’s insistence, all operations of the Callister Group had been temporarily relocated to this makeshift headquarters. The office had become a distant memory, reserved only for matters of utmost urgency. For everything else, a dedicated staff member was tasked with delivering important documents or managing virtual meetings, allowing Daven to remain close to the situation that weighed heavily on his heart.

Daven was relentless; he couldn’t afford to lose a single day without being fully apprised of his mother’s condition. The thought of her suffering gnawed at him, fueling his determination to uncover every detail.

“Am I interrupting?” Arsen inquired, his voice steady as he surveyed the room with keen, scrutinizing eyes that missed nothing.

“Not at all,” Felicia responded, her demeanor brisk yet welcoming. “You brought the reports for Daven, right? Go ahead and share.”

Felicia stepped aside, making way for Arsen, while Kalina followed suit. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation. Althea had already spent her morning ferrying Grace and Josh to school, her mind racing with worry. Chris had offered his assistance, but it was clear the children craved their mother’s presence, a comfort they desperately needed.

“Any updates?” Daven asked, his hand reaching out for the files Arsen held, desperation lacing his tone.

“Ah, Mr. Cale requested to be connected with you,” Arsen replied, tapping away on his tablet with practiced ease. “You’re connected now.”

The large screen in Daven’s study flickered to life, revealing Cale, seated in an elegantly arranged room that spoke of affluence and order.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Cale,” Daven greeted, his voice steady despite the turmoil within. “I wanted to ensure everyone was present for this report, so we could discuss the investigation collectively.”

“Of course,” Cale said, straightening in his chair, his expression serious. “I apologize for not being able to visit you in person, Daven. I trust you’re managing to keep your focus amidst all this chaos?”

Daven offered a faint, humorless smile, the kind that masked the storm of emotions brewing inside him. “How considerate of you, Cale.”

Arsen felt a flicker of relief wash over him. At least Daven was still engaging with those around him, even if it was just a semblance of normalcy.

“There’s been no suspicious activity detected. The CCTV footage corroborates the truck driver’s account,” Arsen reported, his tone professional. “He claims he lost control due to brake failure.”

“And?” Cale’s voice took on an edge, the tension in the room palpable.

“We inspected the truck thoroughly. The investigation team confirmed the brake failure, and there were no signs of tampering or sabotage,” Arsen continued, his heart racing as he delivered the facts.

“What about the man with the dark silhouette, Chris?” Cale inquired, catching both Arsen and Daven off guard. They hadn’t noticed Chris standing quietly behind them, but his presence was significant—he was an integral part of the investigation.
