Chapter 435
It was already late at night when three cars pulled into the Miller family estate. The garden lights glowed softly, casting long shadows across the stone pathway. Daven stepped out first, followed by Cale and Nathan. Fatigue was evident in their eyes, yet their strides remained steady-as if each of them was holding back thoughts that had yet to be resolved.
“Good evening, sir,” Hans greeted them. As the head butler of the Miller household, he stepped forward promptly.
“Is my wife already asleep?” Nathan allowed Hans to take his bag and long coat. The same was done for Cale and Daven by other attendants.
“No, sir. Madam Riana is still having a relaxed conversation with Madam Althea and Miss Lydia.”
A flicker of surprise crossed Nathan’s face, before a faint smile appeared. Riana must have been waiting for him.
“In that case, please prepare some coffee for me.”
“Yes, Mr. Miller.”
Their footsteps carried them toward the main living area. Though the house was quiet, a sense of warmth greeted them unmistakably. Riana stood there, a light shawl draped over her shoulders. Althea and Lydia were not far from her.
When Nathan and the two men entered the room, there were no pressing questions, no suspicious looks-only brief greetings and gentle touches, enough to say, you’re home.
“Have you had dinner?” Riana asked as she stepped forward to welcome her husband.
“Yes,” Nathan answered shortly. He leaned in and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Sorry I’m home so late.”
Riana nodded with a soft smile. “What matters is that you all arrived safely.”
Lydia turned to Cale. “You look exhausted.”
“Yeah… today was pretty draining,” Cale admitted. Perhaps because he looked slightly disheveled, Lydia—who usually greeted him with teasing remarks-this time simply smiled.
“Go get some rest. We’ll talk tomorrow. It’s already late.”
Lydia nodded and followed Cale upstairs. In this house, Lydia had her own room. Even though they weren’t married yet, to Nathan and Riana, Lydia was already part of the Miller family.
No one forced a conversation that night. Everyone understood-they were too tired to say much. And whatever they were facing, it certainly wasn’t trivial. Some answers were not meant to be revealed just yet.
“Are the kids asleep?” Daven asked, gently kissing Althea’s temple.
“Yes. They’ve been asleep for about an hour. I was talking with Lydia about the fashion show she’s holding in three months.”
Daven nodded in understanding and wrapped an arm around his wife as they headed toward the right wing. They exchanged a few light remarks along the way before entering the family room, which felt calm and serene. Daven quickly changed into comfortable clothes-a simple T-shirt and lounge pants-then sat down on the sofa, his breathing noticeably lighter. Althea followed with a cup of warm lemon tea.
She could tell her husband was still carrying a great deal of pressure that hadn’t fully eased.

“You look tense,” Althea said, sitting beside him.
“Like Cale said, today really was exhausting,” Daven replied honestly. He thanked her for the tea and took a slow sip, savoring the warmth as it slid down his throat.
There was a brief pause where Althea hesitated, unsure whether to ask. But her curiosity weighed heavily on her- it had been bothering her too much to ignore. “About the DNA test,” she said at last, looking at him intently. ” What were the results?”
Daven didn’t answer right away. He turned to meet her gaze, his expression serious. Not to avoid the question- but because he needed to be certain of something first.
“Before that,” he said quietly, “there’s something I want to ask you.”
Althea frowned. “What is it?”
“What do you truly believe about Eli?” Daven asked calmly. “Not your suspicions, not your fears—but your belief.”
