Chapter 634
And not a minute late.
Fortunately… the flight went smoothly.
When the plane finally landed in Berlin, Lydia let out a long breath the moment she stepped out of the airport. The unfamiliar air brushed against her skin-cool and crisp, so different from the warmth of SunCity.
There was still a trace of exhaustion lingering in her body. But there was something else too. Something new.
“We really made it,” Lydia murmured softly.
Cale stood beside her, one hand tucked into his pocket, his gaze sweeping the surroundings before returning to her. “Of course.” He made sure both of their suitcases were still with them.
Lydia smiled faintly, then pulled out her phone. “I should let Althea know.”
Cale didn’t respond, only gave a small nod.
A moment later, Lydia had the phone pressed to her ear. “Althea? We’ve arrived.”
The voice on the other end came through warm and familiar. Lydia’s smile deepened without her realizing it. “Yes, the flight was smooth. And… no, I didn’t get enough sleep,” she added, glancing briefly at Cale.
Cale merely raised a brow, looking entirely unapologetic. Lydia rolled her eyes slightly before focusing again. “What? Someone’s going to guide us?”
She listened for a few seconds, then nodded. “Alright. That sounds interesting.”
Cale stepped a little closer. “What did she say?”
Lydia ended the call and looked at him. “For the week we’re in Berlin, someone will be accompanying us. A guide, basically,”
Cale gave a small nod. “That’s good. It’ll make things easier while we’re here. Let’s just treat this like a vacation.”
“Isn’t that exactly what this is?” Lydia asked, puzzled.
“I know my way around Berlin, Love,” Cale said with a faint smirk. “But it doesn’t matter. I’ll enjoy whatever Daven prepared as a ‘gift.””
“Yeah… hopefully we can,” Lydia murmured.
They started walking toward the exit, moving through the busy arrival hall. People passed by in a steady stream, voices in unfamiliar languages filling the air, making Lydia a little more alert than usual.
But then-
Their steps halted abruptly when someone collided into Cale.
“Ah-!” The woman’s voice came out in a startled rush. The items she was carrying scattered across the floor-folders, loose documents, and a small bag that fell open slightly.
“Es tut mir leid! Es tut mir wirklich leid!” she said quickly in German, clearly apologizing.
Lydia instinctively stepped back, while Cale remained still unbothered, yet making no move to help.
