HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 802

Daven, who had been helping unload the supplies, finally stopped what he was doing. He watched them for several minutes, hoping that one of them would start thinking rationally.

That hope turned out to be too ambitious. “You haven’t even managed to get a single tent standing.”

“We’re discussing it,” Chris replied without the slightest hint of guilt.

“That’s not a discussion.”

“It is a discussion.”

“It’s an argument.”

Josh and Chris turned toward Daven at the same time.

“See?” Josh said.

“Now we agree on something,” Chris added.

Daven closed his eyes for a moment before rubbing his temple. Somehow, those two always managed to make a simple situation far more complicated than it needed to be.

Behind them, Nathan had already been laughing for several minutes while watching their antics. Even Althea had to hold back a smile at the chaos they had created. More surprisingly, despite not having accomplished anything, Josh and Chris looked extremely proud of the results of their "discussion."

Amid the chaos, Eli quietly took over part of the work. Calmly, she read the setup instructions, assembled the tent frame, and attached several parts that Josh and Chris should have handled from the beginning.

Naomi, who had initially been standing nearby watching, eventually joined in. “This part should be fastened here,” she said, pointing at one of the tie-down straps.

Eli turned to look at it. “I think you're right.”

A few minutes later, their work was progressing much faster than the two people who were still arguing on the other side.

When Josh finally realized that most of the tent was nearly standing, he looked confused. “Wait. When did you do all that?”

Eli shrugged and said proudly, “While you were arguing.”

Chris pointed at himself. “Hey, I was giving directions.”

Naomi could not hold back her smile. Then, without realizing it, a small laugh escaped her lips. The laugh was so light that it made several people turn to look. Naomi herself only noticed it a few seconds later.

But this time, no awkwardness surfaced. Instead, for the first time since arriving, she truly felt comfortable.

“Yes.”

Lydia narrowed her eyes. “Are you planning something?”

“No,” Cale replied quickly. “Oh, come on. Don't give me that look.”

Lydia became even more unconvinced.

“I just want to take a walk along the river with you. That’s all.”

“Are you sure?” Lydia stepped closer and kept her eyes fixed on Cale.

“Of course.”

Lydia fell silent for a few moments. After so many years with the man, she knew his expression well enough whenever he was hiding something. And right now, that expression was unmistakably clear.

“Come on.” Cale held out his hand to Lydia. Then he said to Althea, who was still busy arranging some of the supplies, “I’m kidnapping Lydia from her camping-preparation duties. You can do it with Eli or Naomi. I’m sure they’ll be willing to help.”
