Taking occasional sips of her warm milk, Naomi began to tell her everything, her voice filled with enthusiasm.
"The first campus had a very modern design," Naomi said, her hands moving as she described the glass architecture she had seen that morning. "But Chris said I shouldn't be impressed by the facilities alone. He showed me the list of distinguished alumni and said that connections matter far more in the real world."
Lydia listened with a faint smile that gradually grew wider, nodding from time to time in understanding.
"Then at the second campus, we ended up arguing because I said I wanted to major in Economics," Naomi continued as she nibbled on a biscuit.
Her expression turned into a slightly pouty yet amused one. "Chris immediately cut me off and said my stubborn personality was better suited for Strategic Management. He was so annoying, but after thinking about it the whole way back... all of his analysis about me was actually true."
Naomi continued talking, telling Lydia how they had swapped meals over lunch because Chris had remembered her small complaint about the salmon during the camping trip the other day. Eventually, she began talking about the third campus, which had become her favorite.
"At the last campus, everything just felt right. The library was classic and incredibly cozy. I could even picture myself sitting there, studying peacefully without having to worry about anything else," Naomi whispered, her voice gradually growing softer as the warmth of the milk began to soothe her tired nerves.
The excitement that had been bubbling out of her slowly faded, replaced by a long, relaxed sigh. Naomi leaned back against the chair, her eyes beginning to feel heavy as they blinked more and more slowly. Her glass of milk was already half empty.
"You liked it?" Lydia asked, still just as enthusiastic.
"Yes, I liked it." In truth, Naomi was still eager to tell her so many more things, including Chris's crazy idea to disappear and hide from Daniel's watch.
But for some reason, she truly couldn't fight off her drowsiness any longer. She yawned over and over again, rubbing her eyes each time.
