HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 876

"I did it on purpose."

"You're insufferable."

"I know." Chris smiled in satisfaction before finally turning toward the car.

Vincent immediately opened the rear door for him. Before getting in, Chris turned back once more. "Naomi."

"Hm?"

"I'll come visit again next month. Make some time for me." The words were spoken so casually, as if they were nothing more than an ordinary remark.

Yet for some reason, Naomi's heart began beating a little faster again. "Just go."

Chris chuckled. "All right."

The car door closed softly, and the engine came to life.

Naomi stood silently beside Lydia and Cale as the car slowly pulled away from the mansion. She kept watching it.

She continued watching until the vehicle finally disappeared beyond the front gate.

Only after it was no longer in sight did Naomi let out a quiet breath.

"The house feels quiet already," Lydia murmured with a faint smile.

Naomi didn't answer, but without realizing it, she gave a small nod.

Meanwhile,

A few kilometers from the Miller mansion, a black sedan that had been parked quietly by the roadside finally pulled away, merging into the flow of traffic.

The man sitting in the passenger seat lowered the long-lens camera from his face. After checking the photos he had taken, he immediately dialed a number. "The target has just left Carrington Bay."

Without waiting for a response, he ended the call and immediately sent several digital photographs. One showed Chris stepping into the car. The next captured Naomi standing quietly in front of the mansion beside Cale and Lydia.

Less than five minutes later, the information had already changed hands. Inside the study of the Evermont residence, the atmosphere was quiet but heavy with tension. Silas accepted the thin folder containing the printed photographs from his subordinate without saying a word.

Falcon stepped closer and studied the picture carefully. "They're getting used to going out together in public."

"Which means..." Silas paused, his eyes fixed on Lydia's figure in the photograph.

"They're starting to feel safe, and that's making them let their guard down," Falcon cut in, voicing exactly what both of them were thinking. He then fixed Silas with a sharp look. "So, when do we make our move?"

Silas did not answer the question immediately. His fingers picked up Lydia's photograph, slowly turning it between his thumb and forefinger with an almost unnervingly calm gesture. "Not today."

Falcon frowned, clearly dissatisfied with the delay. "Why? Everything is perfectly in place."

Silas rose from his chair and walked unhurriedly toward the large window in his study. His gaze rested on the quiet, meticulously landscaped garden outside, but his mind was calculating something far more ruthless.

"A person is much easier to destroy when they're at the highest point," Silas said quietly, his voice calm yet laced with menace. "Right after they become convinced that everything is finally safe."

A faint, cold smile slowly spread across the corner of Silas's lips. He turned back around, looking at Falcon with eyes that no longer concealed the full extent of his plan.

"Let them enjoy this one last day without fear, Falcon." Silas set Lydia's photograph back on the desk with a single, decisive tap. "Starting tomorrow... we put our plan into motion."
