HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 878

Lydia blinked in disbelief. "Are you sure?"

"Yes," Cale replied without hesitation.

"In that case, I'll make a reservation."

Cale nodded. "You should come to dinner too, Nao."

"Me?" Naomi almost choked. She had been planning to do something else if they went out that evening, like going to bed early. "No thanks," Naomi refused.

"Why?" Lydia asked curiously.

"I don't want to interrupt your time together. Besides, I can ask the head butler to make dinner for me later." Naomi quickly shook her head. "You two go ahead. I'd rather wait for you at home."

"Are you sure?" Cale asked, still eyeing her suspiciously.

"Yes, of course," Naomi answered without hesitation.

Lydia gently patted Cale's shoulder. "If Naomi insists she doesn't want to come, we can't force her, Cale."

Cale glanced at Lydia before saying, "All right, then."

"Maybe while we're out, she'll have more freedom to talk to Chris on the phone."

Lydia's remark instantly made Naomi's eyes widen in disbelief. She denied it over and over again, while Lydia repeatedly pretended to believe her. Meanwhile, Cale found himself enjoying the lively exchange at the breakfast table. Even so, he still had to leave right away.

His meeting couldn't be delayed any longer.

He had only taken a few steps toward the exit when he suddenly stopped on the marble floor, as though some invisible weight had held him back.

"Daniel," he called.

The loyal bodyguard, who had been standing by the door the entire time, immediately stepped forward with a straight posture. "Yes, sir."

Cale's voice dropped slightly, quiet but filled with unmistakable authority. "I don't like this feeling I have this morning."

To break the silence, Naomi opened the silver-ribboned university brochure she had received the day before and looked at the picture of the university's magnificent corridors.

"I still can't believe I actually chose Westbridge. It all feels like it happened so fast."

Lydia smiled, leaning back comfortably in her seat. "I'm happy you chose it too. That university has an excellent reputation for your major."

"I thought I'd have a hard time choosing from all the recommendations Mr. Cale gave me, but..." Naomi paused for a moment, a faint blush spreading across her face. "...Chris helped me a lot by giving me his perspective on the curriculum there."

Naomi fell silent the moment the words left her mouth, realizing she had misspoken.

"Oh... so it was because of Chris?" Lydia asked with a playful look in her eyes.

"Not exactly," Naomi cut in quickly. "It's just that I really liked it from the very first time I visited."

"Really?"

Naomi pouted in annoyance. She realized Lydia was still trying to tease her by bringing Chris into it.
