"Mr. Chris."
"Where's Cale?"
"He's waiting for you.”
Chris did not respond. He walked straight into the room.
The conference room was much quieter than usual. A long glass-topped table occupied most of the room, while a massive digital display showed a map of Carrington Bay. Several red markers blinked across the screen, indicating the locations that had been searched since morning.
At the far end of the table, Cale stood with his back to him.
Both hands were braced against the tabletop as his gaze remained fixed on the map. Without even turning around, he already knew who had just arrived.
"Are you absolutely certain about what you found at that address?"
Chris clenched both fists. "Are you doubting me?!" For some reason, Cale's question instantly ignited his temper. "You trust a man who's Falcon's brother more than you trust me?"
Only then did Cale turn around. His sharp gaze briefly shifted to Chris's face before he let out a quiet sigh. "That's not it."
"Then what is it?"
"I already suspected that the address might not be where Naomi is being held."
Those words only made Chris even angrier. "If you already suspected that, then why did you still send me there?"
"I needed you to verify it yourself."
"Verify what?" Chris's voice rose without him realizing it. "That we're being played? Do you realize that we just wasted our time!"
Before Cale could answer, the conference room door opened again. Brandon entered with his assistant. The moment Chris saw the man, every ounce of his patience vanished.
He strode over in long steps. As soon as he stood directly in front of Brandon, he grabbed the front of the man's suit jacket, shoving him backward.
"You bastard!" he shouted. "Did you deliberately give me a fake address?!"
Brandon's assistant instinctively stepped forward. "Mr. Miller, please calm down."
"There was nothing there! Did you do it on purpose?!" Chris glared at Brandon, paying no attention to the man's assistant trying to pull him away. Instead, he shoved the assistant aside.
To Chris, what Brandon had done was unforgivable. Didn't the man understand how critical every second was at a time like this? And how could he have the nerve to show up here?
Brandon looked just as shocked. He pushed Chris's hand away, but Chris immediately grabbed his collar even more tightly.
"Answer me!"
"I never gave you false information!" Brandon replied without the slightest hint of fear.
"Then what was it?" Chris pressed Brandon again.
No one dared interrupt the finality in his voice.
"Brandon."
The man immediately looked at Cale with a serious expression. "Yes, Mr. Miller?"
"Who gave you that address?" Cale pulled out one of the chairs by the table and sat down without the slightest change in expression. His gaze was sharp, as though he were stripping away every layer of the complicated situation they were facing.
"One of my most trusted men," Brandon answered honestly.
"How long has he worked for you?"
"Almost nine years," Brandon replied firmly.
"Do you trust him?"
"One hundred percent," Brandon answered without the slightest hesitation.
Cale gave a slight nod, processing the information. "Then based on your own judgment, do you believe he lied this time?"
Brandon shook his head firmly. "Impossible. He knows how critical this matter is to me."
Cale then shifted his gaze to his younger brother, who was standing on the other side of the table. "And you, Chris?"
