HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 973

"Come in," Chris called.

The door opened, revealing Brandon as he walked in with a faint smile. His left shoulder was still supported by a sling, making his movements less fluid than usual. Even so, he looked far healthier than he had a few days earlier.

"It looks like the patient here has become much more talkative than the last time I saw her."

Naomi chuckled softly. "That means I'm really getting better."

Brandon nodded in agreement before walking over to the bed. "Welcome back."

Naomi's gaze unconsciously fell on Brandon's shoulder, which was still wrapped in bandages. "Does it still hurt?"

Brandon lifted his shoulder slightly, then immediately winced as the movement pulled at the wound that had not yet fully healed. "It's not too bad."

Naomi immediately shook her head. "So for the sake of his pride, this man lies so easily, huh?"

Brandon couldn't help laughing. "All right... it still hurts a little."

Brandon pulled over a chair and sat down not far from Naomi's bed.

"To be honest," he said, letting out a long breath, "you nearly drove all of us crazy."

Naomi looked at him.

"After the ambulance brought all of you to the hospital, not one of us could think clearly. Mr. Cale hardly ever left the hospital. Chris," Brandon said, glancing at the man standing beside Naomi, "was even worse. We took turns trying to force him to go home, but the result was always the same."

Chris merely shook his head slightly, as though he didn't want the conversation to continue.

Brandon smiled faintly. "Daniel didn't regain consciousness until a few days after the surgery. The first thing he asked about was how you were doing."

Naomi's eyes became misty again. She lowered her gaze for a moment before speaking softly, "I'm sorry."

Everyone fell silent.

"I made all of you worry about me."

Brandon immediately shook his head firmly. "Don't."

Naomi looked up at him.

"You don't need to apologize," Brandon said.

"But if it weren't for me—"

"You're the victim, Naomi." Brandon's voice remained calm, but it carried such certainty that it left Naomi no room to blame herself.

"The ones who should be apologizing are the people who caused all of this."

Naomi gently bit her lower lip. For the first time since opening her eyes, the burden she had been quietly carrying in her heart felt a little lighter.

Lydia gently took Naomi's hand. "We're all grateful that you're back."
