Chapter 107
Commnic looked like he’d walked into a nightmare
He stood frozen in the doorway, his face drained of color, eyes locked on me like I was something curral, soci hadn’t prepared himself to see
Ta-” he said hoarsely. “How did you-what are you doing here?”
I laughed
The sound tore out of me, sharp and wild and completely wrong, echoing off the sterile white walls. It startled even me What am I doing here?” I repeated, my voice breaking into something hysterical. “That’s funny. That’s really funny? He took a step towards me. “Please-”
Epointed
past him, my hand shaking violently. “What the hell are you doing, Dominic?”
In gaze flicked towards the bed. Towards Nico. Then back to me.
Theo is alive,” I said, the words burning my tongue. “Alive. And you didn’t tell me.”
He swallowed, “Isa, listen-”
“No,” I screamed. “You listen to me.”
My chest heaved as everything I’d been holding back exploded at once.
“I watched him fall,” I shouted. “I watched the blood pool under him. I spent days thinking I had killed a man. I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t breathe. I told you I didn’t know how to live with it, and you stood there and let me believe it!”
His voice dropped, desperate. “He was barely alive when Eduardo brought him in. The doctors didn’t know if he’d survive the night, let alone the next two days.”
And?” I demanded. “And?”
I thought he’d die anyway,” Dominic said, pain flashing across his face. “I didn’t want to give you hope only to take it away gain.”
Hope.
I stared at him, disbelief turning into something sharp and venomous.
It’s been days, Dominic,” I said slowly. “Well over two days since I shot him. And he’s still alive.”
He ran a hand through his hair, frustration bleeding through. “He was unconscious. He only woke up three days ago. Even now, he’s not stable.”
And still,” I whispered, my voice trembling, “you said nothing.”
I was going to tell you,” he said quickly. “I swear I was.”
“When?” I snapped. “After I’d had a few more nightmares? After I’d apologized for existing one more time??

I needed information,” he said. “What he said that night about the Vitellis, it didn’t add up. He’s more
than we thought. I needed answers”
Something inside me snapped completely.
“Oh, I laughed again, bitter and broken. “Of course. Information.”
I stepped closer to him, tears streaming down my face now, unrestrained.
So information was more important than telling me I hadn’t, in fact, killed him?” I demanded. “More important than sanity”
“That’s not-
“You made the decision for me,” I cut in. “Again. Just like you always do
He shook his head. “I was trying to protect you.”
“No.” I said fiercely. “You were trying to control the damage. And I was part of it.”
He looked at me like I’d struck him.
“You saw how fragile I was,” I went on, my voice cracking. “And instead of trusting me, you decided I couldn’t handle the truth. You reduced me to something you needed to manage.”
“That’s not how I see you.” he said, his voice breaking.
“But that’s how you treated me,” I shot back. “You lied to my face. Every day.”
Silence fell between us, heavy and suffocating.
な
Dominic’s shoulders slumped, the fight draining out of him. “I should have told you the moment he woke up,” he admitted quietly. “I know that.”
I laughed again, hollow. “Too late.”
He took a step closer. “I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Not after so much time had passed. I thought-” He stopped, swallowing hard. “I thought once I got everything I needed from him, I’d bring you with me. Let you see it through. Let it end.”
The words hit me like a slap.
“You planned to bring me here?” I whispered. “To watch you kill him?”
His silence was answer enough.
Something inside my chest collapsed completely
“That’s sick,” I said softly. “You thought that would fix this?”
“I thought it would give you closure,” he said, his voice thick with regret.
“Closure?” I repeated. “You think watching you pull the trigger would give me closure?”
Tears blurred my vision as I shook my head. “You don’t know me at all.”
Dominic reached for me. “Isa, please-”
Estepped back.

Chapter 107
“Don’t.” I said sharply.
I turned towards the door.
“Where are you going?” he demanded, panic flashing across his face. “You can’t just leave. You’re not in the right state to. drive.”
I shoved past him. “You’ve already done enough protecting”
He grabbed my arm gently. “Isa-”
I wrenched free. “Let go of me.”
