Chapter 128
Chapter 128
Dominic’s POV
I was planning on having lunch with Mateo today. But I’d ended up getting a little late because of work. When Marco told me Isa had come home for lunch, too, Figured we had both had the same idea.
I knew breakfast had unsettled her. She’d been too quiet.
I’d seen it in the way her shoulders had stiffened, in the way she’d kept her eyes on Mateo instead of the table, instead of me. I hadn’t missed Vittoria’s tone, Salvatore’s looks, Alessia’s careful positioning. I’d let it happen, not thinking much of it at the time.
But afterwards, when the scene replayed itself in my mind, it had just sat wrong in my chest now.
I’d rehearsed the conversation in my head the entire drive over, what I was going to say to her when I saw her, nothing confrontational, nothing heavy. Just quiet. Human.
I had just turned the corner on my street, the Villa a few feet away when I saw her.
Isabella stepped out of the house, coat on, bag slung over her shoulder. Luca’s car stood right at the gates and I watched as he got out to open the car door for her.

I slammed the brakes instinctively, watching them from a distance.
They exchanged a few words, too quiet to hear, then Luca opened the passenger door for her. She got in without hesitation.
Something sharp twisted in my gut, numerous questions running in my head at once. Why was he here to pick her up? Where were they going? Why?
I watched the car pull away, irritation flaring hot and irrational. I told myself to park my car in the driveway. To go home. To stop doing this to myself.
Instead, I followed.
At first, I justified it easily. Curiosity. Coincidence. I was already on my way home, I was already planning on talking to he
Luca headed to the bank first. Isa went inside alone, coming out with a bag minutes later.
Maybe it was something work related?
But when Luca’s car didn’t head towards the center of the city towards their office or anywhere familiar, my jaw tightened.
At first, my mind drifted, conjuring up crazy scenarios. What if he was taking her to his home? Or to a hotel? Or some secret place only they knew of? What if he-
I cut the thought off as soon as it had come, shaking my head forcefully. No. I shouldn’t be thinking like this. This was just me being an irrational and jealous fucker. Isa had told me they were friends. And that’s what I’d assume they were until she told me otherwise.
Then why are you following them? My subconscious whispered.
I ignored it, focusing on following them discreetly instead.
The streets narrowed. Buildings grew older, more neglected. Shops shuttered. The air changed.

This wasn’t lureb
This wasn’t business.“
A slow, crawling unease settled over me for completely different reasons.
Why here?
And worse, why with him?

When the car finally stopped in a half–abandoned industrial stretch, my concern burned through my earlier jealousy like fire through paper.
I parked at a distance and got out quietly, staying back as Isa and Luca stepped onto the cracked pavement.
Then I saw the woman.
She stood near a warehouse entrance, face partially hidden beneath a hood and mask. Her posture was rigid, nervous. She didn’t belong here either.
Isa stepped forward alone.
Luca stayed back, but close enough to intervene if need be.
My pulse spiked. What the hell was happening here? Who was this woman? And why was Isa meeting her here like this?
They spoke in low voices, and I was too far away to hear clearly. The woman gestured sharply, her body language agitated. Isa held her ground, arms crossed, posture calm but intent.
Then the woman’s hand moved.
Behind her back.
I didn’t think.
“Isabella!”
My voice cut through the air like a gunshot.
I was already running, heart slamming against my ribs, every instinct screaming danger. I reached her just as the woman spun around, eyes wide.
“I told you one,” the woman hissed, voice sharp and panicked. “One accomplice. You bring more men, you bring trouble.”
“That’s not ” Isa started.
The woman backed away. “This is done. You hear me? I’m never contacting you again.”
Then she turned and ran.
“Wait!” Isa shouted, trying to go after her.
I caught her wrist, pulling her back hard. “No. Don’t. You don’t know who she is, who she’s with
“Let go of me!” Isa snapped, yanking her hand free. “You ruined it.”

Chapter 128-*
My chest heaved What the hell was that?”
“You spying on me,” she shot back. “Following me. Interfering.”
“I wasn’t spying,” I said sharply “I was making sure you were safe.”
She laughed, a short, bitter sound. “Funity–how that only applies when I’m not doing what you expect.”
“What were you doing here?” I demanded. “Why here? Why with Luca, of all people?”
Her eyes flashed. “Really? That’s your concern?”

“Yes,” I said, heat flooding my voice. “Because this place isn’t safe, Isa. Because you don’t just walk into something like this without telling me.”
“And yet you expect me to be okay with you hovering over Alessia every chance you get?”
My jaw clenched. How the hell was this connected to Alessia? Why was she bringing Alessia into this? But I answered her anyway. “She’s carrying my child. That’s my responsibility.”
