Chapter 170-
Chapter 170
Dominic’s POV

When I reached the airport gate, it was as crowded as I’d always seen it be, full of arrivals, departures and movement.
I looked around for a while until my eyes landed on the one I was here for. Isabella.
She stood a few meters away with Mateo, Luca, Maria, and my mother,
And just seeing her again made my chest ache.
Physically ache.
The emerald dress from the opening night was gone, replaced by simple travel clothes, her hair pulled back loosely, but she was just as devastating.
God. I had missed her.
Even though I had seen her only two nights ago in the kitchen, screaming at me like she wanted to tear my heart out. Even then. I had wanted to pull her into my arms.
And now she was leaving.
Milan.
The word still didn’t feel real.
My gaze drifted towards Luca. He stood beside her, saying something that made Isabella smile. That small smile hit me like a punch to the chest.
The memory of Luca’s words from the gallery replayed in my head.
Being with a true gentleman should make a woman happy.
Not miserable like you’ve been making her.
My jaw tightened.
A dark, violent part of me imagined walking across the terminal and punching him square in the face. Breaking his nose. Watching him fall. It had been a miracle I hadn’t done exactly that the night of the opening.
୮
And even now, watching him stand beside Isabella like he had some right to be there, the urge hadn’t quite disappeared.
It burned quietly under my skin.
The thought of someone else so much as looking at her in a way that wasn’t purely professional made something primal inside me want to rip their head off.
But I didn’t move.
Because I knew exactly what it would do.
It would only make her hate me more.

And Coil knew she already had enough reasons for that.
She hugged my mother goodbye
My chest tightened watching it
Caterina held her tightly for a moment before letting go.
Then Luca placed their bags onto a luggage cart and began pushing it towards the entrance.
I had tried to arrange for my private plane. Marco had delivered the message exactly as instructed.
But Isabella had refused.
Of course she had.
She wanted to leave on her own terms, without anything that connected her to me.
I didn’t even know why I was here.
I hadn’t planned to come.

I had been halfway through a meeting when Marco told me they were leaving for the airport. Something inside me had snapped hearing him say that. Before I even realized what I was doing, I was already in the car.
Now I stood here wondering what exactly did I come for?
I wasn’t stopping her. I couldn’t. I had no right.
And yet as I watched her walking toward the gate, it felt like something inside my chest was being ripped apart.
My soul felt hollow. Like the light in my life was walking away from me.
I turned slightly, preparing to leave.
I couldn’t watch this. Not when it hurt this much.
Then, “Dominic!”
Mateo’s voice rang across the terminal.
I froze. He had spotted me. Before anyone could stop him, he let go of Isabella’s hand and ran straight towards me.
My heart lurched violently.
I dropped to my knees just in time for him to collide into me.
“Hey, kid,” I murmured, pulling him into my arms.
God. I had missed him so much, too. I hadn’t realised how much until he was in my arms again.
“I missed you,” I said quietly.
“I missed you too!” he said excitedly.
Then he leaned back, looking around. “Are you coming with us?”

My chesi tightened. “No,” I said softly. “I just came to see you before you left.”
His face fell slightly. “Oh.”
I brushed his hair back gently. “But you’re going to have an amazing time.”
He brightened again. “We’re going to see a castle!”
“I heard.”
“And eat gelato!”
“That sounds dangerous.”
He giggled. Then he grew serious again. “You promise you’ll come see me in Milan?”
The words hit harder than he probably realized.
I glanced up, noticing that they had all walked over now. Isabella stood a few steps away, watching silently.
But her eyes held questions. Accusations. Pain. Everything she refused to say out loud.
“I promise,” I told Mateo quietly. “I’ll come see you.”
He nodded happily. “Good.”
I stood slowly.

And then my gaze met Isabella’s properly for the first time. It felt like standing in front of a storm. One I wasn’t sure I was ready to face just yet.
Her eyes searched my face.
But she didn’t greet me. Didn’t nod. Didn’t say a single word. Nothing.
The absence of it hurt far more than anger ever could.
“Have a safe flight,” I said quietly, my voice sounding foreign to my own ears. “And be careful.”
Her expression didn’t soften.
“Thank you,” she said. The words were polite. Distant. “I don’t need anything from you anymore.”
The sentence sliced through my chest.
For a moment, I wanted to snap back. To remind her that she had needed me once. That we had built a life together.
But Mateo stood right there between us. I didn’t want him to see us fight.
So I swallowed the anger.
“You can still call me. Anytime,” I said quietly. “I’ll be there.”
She shook her head slowly. Then she turned away quietly, walking towards the gate with Mateo and the others.
Leaving me standing there.

Alune.
I watched until she disappeared from sight.
Only then did I realize my eyes were burning.
I blinked hard, forcing the emotion down
“Dominic.” My mother’s voice came softly from beside me.
I hadn’t even noticed her staying behind.
She looked at the empty gate where Isabella had vanished. “You let the best thing in your life walk away.”
The words were gentle. But they still hurt.
“I know,” I said quietly.
She turned to face me. “That girl loved you more than anything.”
My throat tightened. “I know.”
“And you broke her heart.”
The truth hung heavy in the air.
“I know,” I repeated, the words coming out barely above a whisper.
