Chapter 181
Chapter 181
Dominic’s POV
“Isa-
I didn’t even see it happen fully.
One second she was standing in front of me, and the next, her body
went
I moved before I could think, before anything else existed. I caught her, arms, her head lolling slightly against my shoulder.
“Isa.”
No response.
My chest tightened violently.
“Isa.”
just before he hit the floor. Her weight fell into my
Nothing.
A sharp, cold fear shot through me.
What was wrong with her? What was happening? Why wouldn’t she wake up dammit?

“Someone get me a doctor,” I shouted, my voice cutting through the office like a blade. “Now.”
I heard the door to the office open, someone moved but I didn’t look to see who. It didn’t matter.
All I could see was her. Too still. Too quiet. Her skin looked pale. Too pale.
“What the hell happened?” Luca’s voice came from behind me, sharp, urgent.
“I don’t know,” I said, already lifting her into my arms.
She felt lighter than she should have. Or maybe it was just the panic distorting everything
“We’re going to the hospital.”
“I’ll come,” Luca said immediately.
I didn’t argue, didn’t care. Nothing mattered except getting her there.
The drive to the hospital was a blur of red lights and commands.
I stayed beside her, her head in my lap, one hand pressed against her wrist, feeling, counting, making sure she was still there. still breathing.
Still alive.
“Isa,” I muttered under my breath. “Stay with me.”
My chest felt fight, too tight, like something was closing in around it.
I couldn’t I couldn’t lose her again.

Chapter 181
The memory hit me without warning. That day. The explosion. The silence that followed The empty space she had len behind. The absolute, unbearable certainty that she was gone. That I had lost her completely. It had destroyed me. There had been nothing left. No air. No ground. No reason.
And now, she had collapsed in my arms.
Because of what? Was it because of me?
The thought hit hard.
Had I pushed her too far? The arguments. The pressure. Showing up in Milan unexpectedly, without any prior notice. Forcing my presence into her life again and again. Was she not taking care of herself. Had she been eating Sleeping? Of had she been carrying everything alone like she always did?
“Faster.” I snapped.
“We’re almost there,” Marco said.
It wasn’t fast enough.
The hospital doors opened before the car had fully stopped.
I didn’t wait. I carried her inside myself.
“Emergency,” someone said.
“Put her here—”
“Call a doctor.”
Voices overlapped, hands reached, but I didn’t let go immediately, not until they forced me to.
“She fainted,” I said sharply. “Out of nowhere.”
“When?”
“Ten minutes ago.”
“Any prior symptoms?”
I hesitated.
“She looked tired,” Luca said from beside me. “And she hasn’t been eating properly.”
My jaw tightened. Of course, she hadn’t.
“Alright,” the nurse said. “We’ll take her in.”
They moved her onto a stretcher.
And then they took her away, just like that, the doors swung shutting behind them.
And I was left standing outside. Useless. Waiting.
Luca sat a few chairs away. Neither of us spoke. There was nothing to say. Time stretched. Minutes felt like hours. Every second dragged.
My mind refused to settle. It kept circling the same thoughts.

Chapter 181
What if something was wrong? What if I hadn’t come today? What if she had been alone when this happened? What if
No.
I shut the thought down immediately.
I wasn’t going there. I couldn’t.
A doctor finally walked in.
We both stood immediately.
“Are you family?” he asked.
“Yes,” I said at the same time Luca said-
“He’s her ex-husband.”
The word landed sharply. Ex.
The doctor looked between us. “And you are?”
“I’m her friend,” Luca said calmly. “She doesn’t have immediate family in the city.”
The doctor nodded. “Alright.”
My chest tightened. “Is she okay?”
“Yes,” he said.
And for the first time since she collapsed, I breathed freely.
“It’s nothing serious,” he continued. “She fainted due to exhaustion and low blood pressure.”
Relief flooded through me. But it didn’t last.
“However,” he added, “this is quite common in early pregnancy.”
Everything stopped.
“What?”
The word came out before I could stop it.
The doctor glanced at his chart.
“She’s pregnant.”
Silence. Heavy. Absolute.
I stared at him, my mind refusing to catch up.
Pregnant.
No.
That-
That couldn’t-
