His Ruthless Redemption (Isabella and Dominic) novel Chapter 196

Dominic’s POV

The tension in the room had been building for the past hour. It sat heavy in the air, thick and suffocating, like something waiting to snap. Eduardo stood across from me, a file open in his hands, his expression tight, controlled, but I could see the underlying frustration and confusion clearly.

The same thing that had been eating at me for days now

“It’s clean,” he said finally.

I didn’t respond, didn’t move. I just stared at the table in front of me, my jaw locked so tight it almost hurt.

“We ran it exactly the same way,” he continued, more firmly this time. “Different information. Different men. Same structure.”

Still nothing.

“No leaks. Again,” he finished.

My hands curled slowly into fists at my sides. There were no leaks this time just like the last time.

Nothing. No pattern. No mistake. No slip. Nothing to grab onto.

I let out a slow breath, dragging a hand through my hair as I paced once across the room before stopping again.

“This doesn’t make sense,” I muttered.

“It doesn’t,” Eduardo agreed.

I turned to look at him then, my gaze sharp. “This means one of two things.”

He didn’t respond. He didn’t need to. We were already thinking the same thing.

“Either the mole knows what we’re doing,” I said slowly, each word deliberate, “and they’re being careful….”

Eduardo’s expression darkened.

“Or,” I continued, my voice dropping slightly, “they’re not in the inner circle at all.”

And that was worse, much worse.

Because we had already gone through most of the lower ranks, and it hadn’t been them. And now, if the leak wasn’t coming from the people closest to me either, then where the hell was it coming from?
