His Ruthless Redemption (Isabella and Dominic) novel Chapter 248

Chapter 248

Chapter 248

İsabella’s POV

The warehouse fell into a suffocating silence.

For a heartbeat, nobody moved. Nobody even seemed to breathe.

Alessia’s words still echoed around the vast, empty building.

I even took your baby away, she had practically screamed.

I stared at her, my entire body turning numb. Even though I’d always known that she was the one behind it, having her accept it so openly, having her shout the truth right in my face made it much too real.

“What?” The word barely left my lips.

She smiled. It was not the gentle, sympathetic smile she wore in public or the sweet smile she’d shown Dominic for years. This one was ugly, cruel, and triumphantly so.

“You heard me.”

My pulse thundered painfully inside my ears. “Vittoria kidnapped me, not you.”

Alessia let out a delighted laugh. “Oh, Isabella.” She clasped her hands together almost theatrically. “Your precious little theory about me manipulating everyone, including Dominic, the same one you kept trying to convince Dominic of, was no just another one of your paranoid fantasies. It was all true. No one could see it except you. Too bad Dominic didn’t believe you.”

A gold shiver raced down my spine at her shameless confession. I knew exactly what she had been playing at all along. But hearing her admit it all seemed almost surreal, almost as if I was in an alternate reality.

She stepped closer. “Vittoria truly believed she was acting on her own.”

She laughed again. “That’s the funniest part. I hardly had to do anything.”

My mouth had gone dry. “You manipulated her.”

“I simply encouraged certain thoughts she was already having.” She shrugged carelessly. “A little suggestion here, a little concern there, a few carefully placed doubts. People usually convince themselves after that.”

My stomach twisted so violently I thought I might throw up. “You knew she already hated me.”

“Of course.”

“You knew she’d do anything to separate Dominic and me.”

“I was counting on it. And when she kidnapped you…..” Her smile widened. “Honestly? I couldn’t have planned it better myself.”

My vision blurred with tears. “You….” My voice cracked. “You killed my baby.”

She tilted her head. “I didn’t so much as touch you.” The words were delivered so calmly they were almost inhuman. “I simply placed the first domino. And everyone else knocked the rest over.”

A broken sob escaped me, the grief of the loss of my baby hitting me with full force yet again.

Aspen. Our baby. The tiny heartbeat we’d listened to together. The tree we’d planted. The name we’d finally chosen.

Chapter 248

All of it had been because of her.

The grief was quickly replaced by rage unlike anything I had ever experienced before.

“You monster!” I screamed so loudly my throat burned. “You evil, disgusting monster! I’ll kill you!”

I threw myself forward so violently that the chair nearly toppled over. The ropes bit painfully into my wrists. But I didn’t

care.

“I swear to God I’ll kill you!”

She simply watched me, almost amused. Then, she sighed. “You still don’t understand.” She slowly turned towards Mate

My heart nearly stopped.

Her gaze lingered on his unconscious little face.

Then she looked back at me. “One child wasn’t enough.”

Ice flooded my veins at the implication of her words.

“What…?”

She smiled. “You’re right. I wanted you gone. But now….” Her eyes became frighteningly cold. “I’ve decided I don’t want to leave loose ends anymore.”

My blood ran cold. “No.”

She nodded towards Mateo. “When I’m finished tonight, neither you nor your son will ever stand between Dominic and me again.”

“No!” I screamed so loudly my voice echoed through the warehouse. “You stay away from him! I’ll do whatever you want! Please! Not him! Don’t touch my son!” I practically begged.

I didn’t care about my pride. I didn’t care about my life. Only Mateo. I had to saye Mateo from her at any cost.

“Please,” I sobbed. “He’s just a little boy. He hasn’t done anything to you. Please.”

Luca suddenly stepped forward. “No.” His voice rang sharply across the warehouse. “No, Alessia.” He looked genuinely horrified. “This wasn’t the deal.”

She didn’t even look at him.

“You promised me nobody would get hurt.”

Still nothing.

“I helped you because I wanted Isabella away from Dominic. You said we’d scare her. You said she’d leave with Mateo. You never said-”

“I lied, simple as that.” The words were so calm they were almost chilling,

Luca stared at her. “What?”

“I said, I lied. And now, I’m going to kill them both.” She finally turned to look at him.

He took another step backwards. “No. You can’t. I won’t let you.”

Something almost resembling irritation crossed her face. “You won’t let me?”

Chapter 248

She looked towards the two men standing behind him. “Take him away.”

Luca frowned. “What?”

Before he could react, one of the men slammed the butt of his pistol into the side of Luca’s head. The sickening crack that followed echoed through the warehouse.

“Luca!” I screamed.

His eyes rolled backwards. His body collapsed heavily onto the concrete floor without making another sound as blood slowly trickled from his temple.

“No!” I struggled wildly against the ropes again. “What are you doing? You’ll kill him!”

Alessia glanced down at his unconscious body with complete indifference. “No. He’ll wake up. Eventually.”

Then she looked back at me. “His usefulness has simply come to an end.”

Terror swallowed me whole.

I forced myself to breathe.

Think, Isabella, think.

There had to be something, something that could reach her. Anything.

Then it came to me.

“The baby!”

She frowned. “What?”

My voice trembled violently but I forced myself to speak. “You lost a baby too.”

For the briefest second, something flickered across her face. I held onto that tiny crack desperately.

“You know what it feels like.” Tears streamed freely down my face now. “You know what it’s like to lose your child. So how can you do this to another mother? How can you even think about hurting Mateo after everything you supposedly went through?”
