Jaxon was never a match for Ethan, so he usually settled for the next best thing: harassing Ethan’s people.

But Jaxon spotted her instantly. He shoved past the crowd and chased her down.

Mia had barely cleared the ballroom when he cornered her in a quiet hallway.

Six months ago, she’d been shipped off to a branch office as General Manager. It was a promotion on paper, but a demotion in reality. Everyone assumed she’d pissed Ethan off or screwed up big time.

“Work stuff,” Mia said, her voice cool.

She gave him a short nod. “Mr. Rivers, I have things to attend to. Excuse me.”

Jaxon slammed his elbow against the wall, pinning her into the corner. “Look at Ethan over there. So busy I can’t even get a word in. Why don’t you have a drink for him?”
