Mia Carter could tell from Ethan Hale’s voice that he was in a foul mood. She couldn’t help but glance toward his office.

Lila was already halfway through changing her clothes. “Fine. There are security guards at the office, at least. If you’re about to kick the bucket, you can call for help. If you stayed home alone, no one would even know if you
