Chapter 37
Claim 50 Coine By Check in
Jaxon was the ultimate playboy. He lived for the party and loved the spotlight.
Word on the street was that on the day he took over the company, the Rivers family had to send a team to a bar to drag him into the Riverside headquarters.
Right now, the bottles of booze on Jaxon’s table were reaching eight figures.
Among all the hedonistic scions, he had the best pedigree, and he was currently the only one actually running his Family’s empire.
A crowd of sycophants surrounded him, lighting his cigarettes and pouring his drinks, calling him “Jax” with every breath.
Mia walked over and stood right in front of him. “Mr. Rivers.”
You’re here.” Jaxon pushed away the woman lounging in his lap and pointed to the empty spot right next to him.
Sit.”
I’m good. I prefer standing,” Mia said. “Just tell me what you need me to do.”
She kept her eyes down, avoiding his gaze.
She hadn’t bothered dressing up today. She was just wearing black cigarette pants, a sweater, and a black puffer
acket over it.
It was a casual look, but she carried herself with a cold, distant energy that kept people at arm’s length.
Even without the effort, she was a total head-turner. The second she walked up, the guys at the table were
nooked.
Yo, Jaxon, where’d you find the babe?”
Jaxon Rivers had a cigarette dangling from his lips. He blew out a slow smoke ring and cocked an eyebrow at the guy. “Hot, right?”
The guy grinned and nodded eagerly. “Hell yeah! You always have the best taste, Jaxon!”
‘Chill out. She’s not mine… yet.” Jaxon’s eyes moved over Mia Carter, his gaze lingering with a suggestive
intensity.
Thinking back to that moment he saw Ethan Hale force a kiss on her, a new idea started to take root.
Snatching Ethan’s secretary was satisfying enough.
But stealing Ethan’s woman? Now that was a real game-changer.
Mia was gorgeous. If Ethan was a red-blooded man, there was no way he didn’t have feelings for her.
Jaxon flashed a grin and patted the spot right next to him again. “I didn’t bring you here to be a servant. Sit down. You think I’m gonna bite with all these people watching?”
Mia hesitated for a beat before finally sitting down, making sure to keep a safe distance between them.
“Milk or a soda?” Jaxon asked, surprisingly not pushing her to drink.

Jaxon signaled a waiter to bring a glass over immediately. “Relax. It’s New Year’s, we’re out to have a good time. Want to play a game?”
Mia shook her head.
Fine. You just sit back and watch. We’re gonna play.”
Jaxon was a pro at this stuff. Truth or Dare? That was kid shit to him.
Dice, cards didn’t matter. He walked away the winner most of the time.
The energy at the table was electric. Mia sat there quietly, leaning back against the leather sofa.
Every time Jaxon Rivers pulled off a narrow win, he’d turn to her with a cocky grin, eager to show off.
See that? I’m good, aren’t I?”
It really felt like he’d just brought her along to hang out. He wasn’t making things difficult for her at all.
Mia slowly started to relax. She didn’t want to be a buzzkill, so she gave him a small smile and a nod. “You’re good.”
But she still kept her guard up.
