His Secret Baby: Six Months After Divorce (Mia and Ethan) novel Chapter 441

Chapter 441

Compared to the restaurant Aunt May had chosen, this place was much more affordable.

Mia Carter and Nina Torres sat by the window and ordered a few simple dishes. While waiting for their food, they went back to the topic at hand.

“Aunt May still hasn’t said who’s looking after the orphanage.”

Thinking of something, Nina pulled out her phone. “I’ll ask Carly.”

When they left Northbrook, they had bought Carly a phone. Whenever Carly stayed at the school dormitory, she had to hand the phone over to her teacher, but she could use it to contact them whenever she was home for the holidays.

Today was the weekend, so Carly was off.

“This girl is something else. Most kids her age are glued to their phones, but she barely touches hers. She’s probably on silent mode, studying. She hasn’t replied to my message in forever.”

Nina had sent the message quite a while ago but still hadn’t received a response.

“Just call her,” Mia suggested.

Nina dialed the number, but a recorded voice informed her the phone was powered off.

“What’s going on? Did the battery die?” Nina tried again, but got the same result.

“Wait a bit and try again later,” Mia said. It wasn’t unusual for a child to use a phone until it died and then forget to charge it.

Suddenly, a stir broke out at the restaurant entrance. Mia was about to say something else when her gaze was involuntarily drawn toward the door.

A noble-looking woman dressed in a black qipao entered. She wore a string of pearls around her neck and exuded an extraordinary aura. Her innate elegance felt entirely out of place in such a modest restaurant.

“Whoa,” Nina whispered. “That bag is worth at least six figures. You could buy this whole restaurant for that. Which wealthy socialite from Everett wandered into a dive like this?”

As she spoke, the woman’s gaze swept across the room and locked onto them. Her eyes narrowed for a split second before she sat down at a table nearby.

Waiters rushed over to attend to her. Sensing her high status, the manager followed closely behind to personally serve her.

“Let’s just eat.”

A waiter arrived with their food. Mia unwrapped a pair of chopsticks and handed them to Nina. “Eat up. We need to get back to Toby. He won’t sleep if he doesn’t see you.”

After everything that had happened, it was already late. By the time they finished and got home, it would be Toby’s bedtime.

Nina forced herself to look away, took the chopsticks, and started eating heartily.

“The food here is actually pretty good. Maybe Carly should come to university in Everett. I’ll take her to try all the local delicacies.”

“It’s not as good as Clara’s cooking,” Mia noted.

Lately, Clara had spoiled Mia’s palate so much that she found it hard to enjoy eating out.

Nina nodded. “That goes without saying. Clara is a real gem. As long as she doesn’t quit, she can look after Toby, and then she can look after my future daughter-in-law.”

‘The two kids won’t be far apart in age. They can go to the same kindergarten and Clara can look after both of

them at once.”

Mia highly approved of Clara as well.

As they chatted, they both felt a gaze occasionally drifting toward them. When Mia followed her intuition and looked up, she saw no one but the wealthy woman sitting diagonally across from them.

‘I’m full. Let’s head home.”

Nina wiped her mouth, stood up, and grabbed her bag.

Mia followed her out. They walked out of the restaurant one after the other, but just as they were about to get into
