His Secret Baby: Six Months After Divorce (Mia and Ethan) novel Chapter 47

Chapter 47

“Inside. Now.”

Ethan’s cold, crisp voice cut through the silence like a whip. He turned on his heel and strode into his massive executive office, leaving the heavy mahogany door ajar.

Mia Carter bit her lower lip, her heart hammering violently against her ribs. She didn’t hesitate. Pressing the silver pen to the paper, she finished her signature with a swift, definitive stroke. She picked up the termination agreement and followed his towering figure inside. Zoe Parker, the junior intern, scurried right on her heels, rembling like a leaf in a hurricane.

The heavy doors clicked shut, sealing them inside the expansive, dimly lit office.

Ethan didn’t sit behind his desk. He stood in the center of the room, his tailored black suit radiating a dark, suffocating authority. His obsidian eyes dropped immediately to the paper in Mia’s hand-specifically, to the resh ink of her signature placed right next to his own.

A muscle feathered dangerously along his sharp jawline. The air in the room plummeted to sub-zero.

Mr. Hale, Ms. Carter is starting her resignation process,” Zoe blurted out, her voice cracking as she desperately ried to save herself from the CEO’s wrath. “I’ll be taking over her duties-”

Who told you to touch her desk?” Ethan’s voice was a low, feral growl that vibrated through the floorboards. His gaze sliced toward Zoe, sharp enough to draw blood.

Before Zoe could stammer out an excuse, the office doors swung violently open.

Chloe Bennett marched in, her eyes red and puffy, with Miranda Hale trailing closely behind her like a fiercely

protective shield.

The moment Chloe saw Zoe and Mia standing there, her face paled.

Chloe, you have to tell him!” Zoe practically lunged forward, grabbing Chloe’s arm in a desperate death grip. “Tell Mr. Hale! Tell him you’re the one who told me to trick him into signing Mia’s termination papers! I never would’ve had the guts to do it if you hadn’t ordered me to!”

Chloe tried to violently shake her off, but Zoe clung tighter, tears streaming down her face. “Please! Tell the CEO

he truth!”

Miranda’s face hardened into a mask of pure fury as she pieced the scene together. She didn’t hesitate to protect her future daughter-in-law. “Get the hell out of here!” Miranda barked at Zoe, her voice echoing off the walls.

The sheer force of Miranda’s shout made Zoe flinch. Realizing she was entirely on her own, the intern didn’t wait for a second warning. She turned and scrambled out of the office, sobbing.

Silence fell over the room, but the air was thick with explosive static. Gazes locked and clashed like sparks.

Mia stood perfectly still, clutching the signed document. She could feel the rage radiating off Ethan. It was palpable, suffocating.

“Mr. Hale, Miranda,” Mia said, her voice smooth and impeccably professional, despite the chaos. “I’ll leave you to your family business.”
