His Secret Baby: Six Months After Divorce (Mia and Ethan) novel Chapter 85

Chapter 85

“I don’t know this place, Ethan,” Chloe whined, acting like a spoiled child as she clung to his arm inside the luxurious presidential suite. “I’m scared to sleep in a room by myself. Just let me stay here with you, please?”

Ethan gave a slight, imperceptible frown. “Fine. Take the master bedroom. I have work to do, so I’ll be out here in the lounge.”

Chloe’s eyes lit up. “Wait, you’re actually saying yes?”

“Yeah,” Ethan grunted, pulling his arm from her grasp. He looked up, his gaze landing on Mia standing quietly by

the door.

“Mr. Hale,” Mia said, wheeling Chloe’s bright pink suitcase into the suite. “Ms. Bennett, your luggage.”

Chloe shot Mia a smug, triumphant look. “Take it into the bedroom. Put it right next to Ethan’s.”

Mia’s face remained a mask of professional indifference. She wheeled the suitcase inside. The master bed was massive, covered in crisp, white linens. But she quickly noticed that Ethan’s black suitcase hadn’t been unpacked. It was left by the door, completely separate from Chloe’s things.

He isn’t sleeping in here, Mia realized, a strange, tiny flutter of relief brushing against her chest before she quickly squashed it down.

She walked back out to the lounge. Chloe was whispering something flirty to Ethan, but his response was a cold, listant hum.

I’m going to sleep now. Hurry up with your work,” Chloe called back to Ethan, her voice dripping with sweetness as she passed Mia. “I can’t sleep without you.”

With a final, venomous glare at Mia, Chloe disappeared into the bedroom. The heavy oak door clicked shut, eaving Ethan and Mia alone in the dimly lit lounge.

Mr. Hale,” Mia sat across the desk from him, pulling out her laptop. “Is there something you need me to handle?”

Ethan tossed a thick file toward her. “Sort through this.”

Mia caught it and skimmed the first few pages. “Mr. Hale, this is for the Horizon Project. It’s already been ɔrganized.” It was the old proposal from before the data leak. It was completely useless now.

Ethan took a slow sip of his coffee, his face a mask of cold indifference. “Do it again anyway. It’s not like you’ve got anything better to do.”

Mia stared at him. The sheer absurdity of the demand hung in the air. He was keeping her here on purpose, forcing her to stay in his space under the guise of busywork.

Taking a deep breath, she opened the file and started typing.

As the hours dragged on past 2:00 AM, the heavy silence in the room was charged with a suffocating tension. Exhaustion was catching up to Mia. Worse, her pregnancy was making her body change. The crisp white button-down shirt she had worn comfortably for months was now pulling painfully tight across her swelling

chest.

She shifted in her chair, trying to stretch her aching back.

Pop.

The sound was tiny, but in the dead silent room, it echoed like a gunshot.

The second button of Mia’s shirt gave way under the pressure. The fabric parted instantly, exposing the delicate black lace of her bra and the soft, pale swell of her cleavage.

A sharp gasp tore from Mia’s throat. Panic flared hot and fast. She immediately crossed her arms to cover herself, her face burning with a furious blush.

Across the desk, Ethan froze.

Slowly, his gaze dragged up from his reports. His amber eyes locked onto her exposed chest. The polite, cold CEO mask shattered. His eyes darkened into pitch-black pools of primal, unquenched lust. His breathing grew noticeably heavy, turning the quiet suite into a dangerous powder keg.

“I… I need to go to my room,” Mia stammered, scrambling to stand up.

“Don’t move.” Ethan’s voice was a dark, gravelly command.

He stood up, his towering frame rounding the mahogany desk. With every slow, predatory step, Mia’s heart hammered against her ribs. He stopped right in front of her. Slowly, he reached out. Mia squeezed her eyes shut, expecting his warm hands on her bare skin.

Instead, she felt the heavy, expensive fabric of his suit jacket draped over her trembling shoulders.

Ethan pulled the wide lapels of his jacket tightly across her chest, completely covering her. His large hands lingered on her shoulders, his grip painfully tight, as if physically restraining his feral instincts.

Suddenly, the master bedroom door clicked open. “Ethan?” Chloe’s whiny voice drifted out. “Are you still not done?”

In a flash, Ethan stepped directly in front of Mia, his broad back completely shielding her disheveled state from Chloe’s line of sight.

Go back to your room, Mia,” Ethan rasped, his hot breath brushing her ear, vibrating with a dark, possessive need. “Now.”

Mia’s breath hitched. Pulling his oversized jacket tightly around her chest, she bolted from the suite, escaping the terrifying, burning intensity of the room
