Chapter 98
This won’t stay hidden, he thought. Not a chance.
But he wanted to wait. He’d wait until the baby was born before he blew the lid off this thing.
The sole heir of the Hale family, the powerhouse behind Bayview, having a secret love child?!
It would be the scandal of the century. It was one of the few opportunities he’d ever have to actually get one over on Ethan.
I hope you keep your word,” Mia said, nodding. She added one last sting: “If you break it, you’ll never be able to ook Ethan in the eye again for the rest of your life.”
axon: “!!!!”
She had said her piece. Now, it was in the hands of fate. Mia turned and walked away to get some fresh air.
The second she left, Jaxon headed for the hot spring, walking straight toward Ethan.
Mr. Rivers, where have you been all this time?” Marcus asked, curious about his long absence.
axon waded into the water, casting a pointed, cryptic look at Ethan. “Had a little run-in. I just got involved in a natter of… life and death.”
Marcus glanced back at where Jaxon had just come from. “Everything okay?”
L…”
axon looked at Ethan, who was sitting there with his usual cold, high-and-mighty vibe. He almost blurted it out ight then and there just to shatter Ethan’s smug composure.
The words were on the tip of his tongue, but he forced himself to swallow them. “Just kidding, Marcus. Don’t nind me.”
Marcus looked between the two of them, looking confused.
Ethan didn’t give a damn about what Jaxon was saying. He grabbed his phone from the edge of the pool and dialed Mia’s number.
Bring some coffee over here.”
Marcus chimed in immediately, “I can just call a waiter for that.”
Ethan’s expression remained blank. “No. I want her to do it.”
Just outside the hot spring area, there was a small garden.
Mia sank onto a bench, replaying the conversation with Jaxon in her head. She was kicking herself for admitting the truth so easily.
She knew she couldn’t have shaken Jaxon off otherwise, but she still felt a wave of restless frustration and helplessness.
Her phone buzzed suddenly. When she saw Ethan’s name on the screen, she panicked.

Had Jaxon sold her out already?
Mia held her breath as she tapped the screen to answer.

His voice was usually cold and emotionless, but hearing those few blunt words now felt like the best thing she’d ever heard. At least he didn’t know yet.
“On it,” Mia said quickly. She hung up and stood up to go brew the coffee.
Ten minutes later, Mia returned to the pool with three coffees and a glass of milk.
She set the tray down and grabbed the milk, intending to take it to Mrs. Ford.
Serve Mr. Ford and Mr. Rivers first,” Ethan commanded.
Mia stiffened. She had no choice but to put the milk back and start handing out the coffees.
‘Mr. Hale, no need for all the formalities,” Mr. Ford said, lifting his cup toward Ethan.
“It’s only right,” Ethan replied. His gaze drifted to the white towel wrapped around Mia’s neck.
