She handed the box forward.

Cindy's eyes instantly lit up. She thanked her, took the cake box, and ran back into the apartment, yelling as she went, "Mommy! Mommy! Grandma Helena is here!"

Helena chuckled, picked up the thermos, and followed her inside.

Virginia walked out of the bathroom. The swelling on her left cheek had gone down significantly, and with a bit of makeup, it was hardly noticeable unless you looked closely.
