Chelsea lowered her sunglasses and raised an eyebrow. "I'm taking this dress. As for this lady... you wouldn't dream of fighting me for it, would you?"
Virginia said nothing, but a cold glint flashed in her eyes.
This Miss Preston had walked in without a word, only to try and snatch the dress the second it was brought out. It was blatantly obvious she was targeting her.
Yet Virginia was absolutely certain she had never met a woman named Chelsea Preston in her life.
"Miss Preston, well... it's our policy that custom orders are not for public sale. If you really love the design..." The attendant looked like she was on the verge of tears, especially with the rightful owner standing right there.
"Didn't I order a piece from your haute couture collection half a month ago? Have I paid the remaining balance yet?" Chelsea tilted her head and smiled. Her tone was light, but the threat was crystal clear.
Chelsea didn't know Virginia personally, but she was best friends with Chloe.
She had long heard Chloe complain about her shameless, home-wrecking sister. Bumping into her today by pure chance, Chelsea was determined to teach her a lesson on her best friend's behalf!
The attendant's face fell. She looked back at Virginia, then back at Chelsea.
Finally, she offered a deep bow to Virginia. "Um, Ms. Caldwell, I am so deeply sorry. Miss Preston is a VIP client of ours, and she really adores this dress. Would it be possible for you to..."
Virginia turned to the attendant, her voice frosty. "Could you explain to me the definition of a custom order?"
The attendant opened her mouth, her face pale, but no words came out.
Chelsea crossed her arms and scoffed, her attitude dripping with contempt. "Policies are made by people, and people can bend them. It's just a dress. If it comes down to it... I'll pay double."
Virginia didn't reply. She was waiting for the attendant to make her choice.
Assuming Virginia was intimidated into silence, Chelsea gave a disdainful snort. She waved a hand at the attendant. "Hand it over. I'm going to try it on."
After a brief hesitation, the attendant actually handed the gown over.
Virginia's brow twitched upward, her gaze turning completely glacial.
She glanced down at the receipt in her hand. Just as she was about to speak, Chelsea took the dress, draped it over her arm, and turned around to look her up and down.
