Archer's expression softened. He leaned down and carefully selected a brand with the cleanest ingredients.

"Archer..." Virginia warned, her brow furrowing.

"Be a good girl, Cindy. We'll only have one bite, alright?"

Archer didn't even look at Virginia. Instead, he crouched down, placed the ice cream in Cindy's small hands, and coaxed her with endless patience.

"Okay!"

The little girl cradled the strawberry ice cream, her eyes shining brighter than stars.

Seeing this, Virginia knew she couldn't step in to stop them anymore and decided to stay quiet.

But in the very next second, the little girl pouted and dropped an absolute bombshell. "It's such a pity."

"Mr. Archer can't be Cindy's daddy." Cindy gripped her ice cream, her voice tinged with genuine sorrow. "Because you're Toby's daddy."

The air instantly froze. Before Archer or Virginia could even process the words, the little girl dealt another blow.

"Uncle Valentin is much better at being a daddy. He treats Cindy and Mommy so well, and he always brings Cindy lots and lots of toys and treats."

Archer's hand stiffened mid-air.

His handsome face betrayed no visible reaction, but his eyes grew frighteningly dark. When he tossed the ice cream into the shopping cart, the motion was noticeably rougher than his usual composed grace.

Virginia crouched down and gently pinched the little girl's cheek, offering a stern warning. "Cindy, I've told you many times. You can't just say things like that."

She paused, standing back up without meeting Archer's gaze. "Valentin and I are just friends."

The tension in Archer's brow eased slightly, and his tight grip on the shopping cart handle loosened.

"I see. Let's go pay." He pushed the cart forward, his demeanor returning to normal, though he deliberately slowed his steps.

Despite her hesitation, Virginia took Cindy's hand and followed him, maintaining a careful distance of a step and a half.
