His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 200

Virginia's gaze swept over the kitchen counter—three dishes and oatmeal, beautifully plated.

She withdrew her gaze, her tone cold. "Clean up the kitchen when you're done."

Then she turned to go wake Cindy.

Archer looked at her indifferent back, his brows furrowing involuntarily.

He had just turned back to serve the oatmeal when Cindy's voice came from behind.

"Mr. Archer? Why are you in my house? And wearing Kian's clothes?"

The joy he felt the moment he heard the little girl's voice vanished completely.

The chopsticks in his hand paused. He looked down at the tight t-shirt stretched across his chest, and when he looked back up, something dark sank into his eyes.

"Mr. Archer?"

The little girl rubbed her eyes.

"Cindy, Mr. Archer is making breakfast. Let's go wash up first." Virginia had returned at some point, taking the little girl's hand and leading her toward the bathroom.

Archer clenched his fists and buried his head in serving the food.

By the time Virginia brought Cindy out, he was gone.

She didn't pay it much mind, routinely handing Cindy off to Mrs. Benson to be taken to preschool, while she got ready and went to the clinic.

But she later realized that Archer was much harder to deal with than she had imagined.

On the first day, when she got home from work, she found him waiting at the door with two bags of groceries, claiming he had just "bought too much on the way."

On the second day, he boldly used a spare key to walk right in. When she asked about it, he smoothly pinned it on Cindy, saying she had given it to him.

On the third day, the moment she walked in, the whole house smelled of BBQ ribs. Cindy was sitting at the dining table with grains of rice stuck to her face, waving excitedly. "Mommy! Mr. Archer's ribs are super yummy!"

Virginia just watched day after day as the man wearing her floral apron kept busy in the kitchen, entirely unable to find the right excuse to kick him out.

Archer brought out the last bowl of soup and looked up at her. "Wash your hands and eat."
