His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 203

Archer kept his head lowered, his gaze resting on the top of her head.

She had her hair tied in a loose, low ponytail today, with soft strands framing her face.

From his vantage point, the slightly open collar of her robe revealed the flawless expanse of her collarbone and a stunning curve.

The fingers resting by his side twitched, but ultimately, he refrained from lifting his hand.

"Done." Virginia was just about to step back and put some distance between them.

Suddenly, Cindy shuffled out of the bedroom, her hair a messy bird's nest as she clutched her little plush bunny.

Seeing the scene before her, a trace of confusion flickered in the little girl's sleepy eyes. "Mommy, Mr. Archer?"

She stood beside them, tilting her little head to look back and forth, then suddenly clapped her hands.

"You guys look so close! Just like a mommy and daddy from TV!"

Virginia's face instantly stiffened.

She practically vaulted backward to create space.

Archer looked down at the little girl, the corners of his lips curling into a faint smile.

He walked over and crouched down, reaching out to smooth Cindy's messy hair.

"Are you hungry, Cindy? Mr. Vanderbilt made your favorite shrimp omelet."

"I wanna eat! I wanna eat!"

"Then go wash your hands."

Cheering, Cindy trotted off toward the bathroom.

Virginia stood frozen in place with a frown, watching the man casually stand up and head into the kitchen to serve breakfast as if nothing had happened.

His movements and demeanor were so natural it was as if he were in his own home.

Taking a deep breath, she turned and marched back to her bedroom to change.

Things couldn't go on like this.
