His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 211

Virginia paused, not bothering to deny it.

"He did come in for a few sessions."

"Sessions?" Madeline scoffed, her smile entirely devoid of warmth. "Sessions at your apartment? Sessions at eleven o'clock at night!?"

Virginia’s throat tightened.

"Ginny, I thought you knew where to draw the line."

"Let’s get one thing straight today."

Madeline scrutinized her for several seconds, seemingly weighing the credibility of the promise, before giving a dismissive curl of her lips and picking up her purse to leave.

Reaching the door, she paused and tossed one last remark over her shoulder.

"Don't blame me for being harsh, Ginny. Chloe’s health is fragile, and she can't handle this kind of stress. You're a therapist; you should understand that better than anyone."

The door clicked shut.

Virginia was left alone in the empty consultation room.

She stared at the untouched glass of water on the coffee table, remaining completely still for a very long time.
