Clarice POV

I have no idea what time it is when my eyes pop open. Despite the room being dark, I can tell I’m not in my room. Based on the dark colors and Nick’s scent, I’d guess I’m in his room. Besides, the bed has to be a California king. I slide out of bed and realize that it’s still dark outside. I grab my phone off the nightstand and see it’s only two in the morning. Where is Nick if I’m in his bed? Maybe he went upstairs to sleep in mine in Chrissy’s apartment. I make my way toward the door and open it slowly.
I make my way down the short hallway. My mouth goes dry when I step into the living room and see Nick bare–chested, sleeping on the small couch that is far too small for his large frame. I thought Santa was supposed to have a round belly that shakes like jelly, not an eight pack. A light smattering of reddish hair covers his chest and follows a line that disappears under the waist band
of his sweatpants. I almost jump out of my skin when I hear him moan and whisper my name.
Holy sh*t, is he dreaming about me? What do I do? Do I go back into his room and leave him sleeping on the couch or wake him up so he can go to his own bed? I decide I can’t let him sleep on his tiny coach while I’m lying in his huge bed. I move closer and reach out to tap his shoulder. Without warning, he grips my wrist and pulls me down on top of him. I can’t stop the squeak that

me when he wraps his arms around me and I can feel his hard length against my thigh.
“Nick, please wake up,” I say calmly, trying not to startle him. His eyes fly open and a smile spreads across his face. “Clarice, are you trying to seduce me,” he asks with a smirk. “You are the one that

“Did you need something Clarice? Are you feeling alright,” he says, all hint of humor gone. “I’m fine, I just thought it would be better if you head back to your bed. I can go upstairs or sleep here on the couch, so I don’t disturb Chrissy. You can’t be

“The couch is too small for you.” “One night of need your rest. Yesterday was exhausting,” he says. sleeping on the couch won’t kill me. I want you to be comfortable. Do you need me to tuck you back in,” he asks with a wink.
I can feel the heat spread across my cheeks. “We can share the bed,” I blurt out. “Excuse me,” he says, like he didn’t just hear me when I know damn well he did. “We are both grown–ups, Nick. We can both sleep in the bed.” “Are you sure you won’t be uncomfortable,” he asks with genuine concern. “I will be fine. It’s not like anything is going to happen. We are just going to sleep. The

bed is huge, and it doesn’t make sense for you to cram your big body onto that small couch when we can share the bed.” He stands to his full height and rolls out his shoulders.
He smiles when my eyes meet mine. He caught me ogling his muscles. “Ready,” he says, motioning toward the hallway. I turn and quickly make my way back to the room and slide under the covers That’s when I realize I’m wearing my own pajamas. I turn just as Nick steps into the room. “Did you dress me for bed?” “Would it bother you if I did,” he asks. I don’t know that it would. “Clarice, I didn’t. Chrissy was here and helped you change after I carried you to bed,” he says.
I feel a slight twinge of disappointment. What the hell is wrong with me? I quickly slide under the covers and turn on my side facing away from him. My heart races as I feel the bed dip, and he slides in beside. I feel him press a kiss to the back of my head before he lays down. It doesn’t take long for me to fall back to sleep. I’m not sure what time it is when I open my eyes again, but the sun is shining through the window.
An arm tightening around me makes me realize that I am no longer on my side of the bed. In fact, my back is pulled snug against Nick’s front and his very hard c**k is pressed against my a**. Holy sh*t, he’s huge. I try to move, but he grinds himself against me. Oh my God. Between the hormones and the thought of the man lying half naked behind me, I fight the urge to grind back against him. I have to get out of bed before I embarrass myself.
“Nick, I need to pee.” His whole body stiffens and I giggle. He quickly moves the arm that was holding me in place and rolls onto his back. I turn to face him. His cheeks are beet red and his eyes are closed tight like he is praying. “I’m glad I’m not the only one that blushes,” I tease as I slide out of bed. I quickly make my way down the short hallway to the bathroom. Thankfully, Nick’s place is set up exactly like Chrissy’s. Once I’m inside, I lean against the door to get my heart rate under control.
Chrissy POV
I can’t wipe the smile off my face as I sit behind the desk in the lobby. Watching my brother tuck Clarice into his bed last night made me ridiculously happy, Especially knowing he has finally got his head out of his a**. I can’t wait to tell mom. The front door opens and I cringe when Elaine walks toward me. I should have told Lacey she had to deal with her b**chy a** this morning. “I have your order,” she says, looking around the lobby.
“Alright, you know where it goes, so I’m not really sure why you are announcing it like it’s a big deal, Elaine.” “I thought that petty b**ch, Clarice, might be here again. You know she thinks she is better than you even though she came crawling back like the failure I knew she would be. I don’t know why you would let her work here,” she says. “Excuse me,” I say, trying to get a handle on my
temper.

“She thinks she is better than everyone in this town even though she is a pathetic conniving b**ch,” she says. “Get the f**k out and take your sh**ty baked goods with you.” “What, you can’t do that? We have a contract. We have been supplying the Inn since I was a teenager,” she says, her voice laced with panic. “I’m sure my brother will agree I would rather hire someone to bake here than ever deal with your despicable, obnoxious, self–absorbed a** again. How dare you come in here

“You are willing to break our contract over that worthless b**ch. I want to speak with Nick,” she says. “I believe my sister made herself perfectly clear. Any decision she makes is for both of us. Now, get your a** out of our Inn. Oh, and have fun explaining to your father how you lost him seventy percent of his business you crotchety w**ch,” Nick says as he steps into view. “Nick,” she says, trying to sound seductive and reaching her toward him.
“Keep your f**king disease–ridden hands to yourself, Elaine. The whole town knows what you get up to with half the male population. Here is another little tidbit of information so you know how much you f**ked up today. Clarice will be my wife someday soon and Chrissy’s sister. She is family, and we protect our family, so get out and don’t come back,” he says.
She looks like her brain just short circuited as she looks between the two of us before she screams and stomps like a toddler having a tantrum. Thankfully, it’s not long before she turns and runs out the front door. “God, she is the biggest a**hole on the planet. I wonder if she ever made it off the naughty list?” “Not even once,” Nick says, and we both laugh. “I wish I could be a fly on the wall when she talks to her dad.” “Me too” he says before heading to his office.
