79 They are Going to Love You
Noreen POV

Hurting another fae goes against my very nature, but this b**ch wanted my title and beloved enough to kill me and my baby. Staring at her as she cowers at the back of the cell does nothing to assuage my anger. In fact seeing her act like she is the victim just pisses me off more. I once considered her a friend, but now she is nothing but an enemy. An enemy that wanted what was always meant to be mine.
Anger washes over me when I think about what she did. She pretended to care for me and I fell for it. How long has she been planning this? Everything about her was fake from the very beginning. What if Simone hadn’t got here on time? What if her sister didn’t have the vision that led her to return to the kingdom? What if she just didn’t return because of all the hurt she endured here?
My baby nor I would have survived. The healer said that the poison was not meant to hurt, it was meant to kill. How dare she stand there and beg Jared and Phillip to save her after what she did? “Open the cell door,” I say, and the guard doesn’t hesitate. I move to step toward the open door when a hand reaches out to stop me. I look down expecting it to be Jared’s even though he just said to do my worst.
I assume he thought I would be doing it from outside the cell, but instead it’s Trevor’s hand on my forearm. I look at him curiously until I notice the glow of his hand. I can’t stop the smile that spreads across my face. His gift is manifesting. That means he is meant to be a part of Janice’s punishment. The goddess never does anything without a reason. He steps past me, entering the cell first. “What are you doing? Don’t you dare touch me, you pathetic f**king human,” Janice screams at him. Trevor stops a few feet from where she is pressed against the wall. He holds up his hand and a green glow envelops Janice.
Her body begins to shake and she screams. I can’t stop the feeling of satisfaction watching her suffer. After a few minutes, the glow fades and Trevor steps back. Janice drops to her knees and her breathing remains erratic. “What did you do to me,” she manages to grit out. I move to stand at Trevor’s side.
“You are no longer a fae. Every bit of what made you part of the magic of your kind has been stripped away. You are no different than the humans and servants you look down on. You are no longer a child of the goddess,” he says. “No, you’re a human. There is no way the goddess would give you such a gift,” she
says.
She looks down at her hands trying to conjure her gift but nothing happens. Devastation crosses her features and she screams in pain. “I guess you’re wrong, Janice, since you are a powerless b **ch now. You know what’s worse than dying for someone like you?” She looks at me with fear shining brightly in her eyes. “Living in the knowledge that you have nothing left. Your powers are gone, and you are now living on borrowed time. You won’t die today, but you will die for what you tried to do to me and my child.”

“Noreen, I’m sorry. I never should have wanted what wasn’t mind. You will never know how sorry I am for what I did. I was thinking clearly. Please just have mercy on me. You and the baby are fine. My plan didn’t work. It’s not like I can hurt you now. I have no powers. You can just banish me to the human world,” she
says.

“No, you could have accepted that I was always meant to be queen and Jared’s beloved from the beginning, but instead you plotted to kill me. You acted as if you cared for me all the while planning to take my place. Do you really believe you deserve any mercy from me?” She sobs and drops her head into
her hands.
“Don’t cry now, Janice. You wouldn’t have shed a tear if your plan had worked.” “I would have cut my own d**k off before I ever touched her,” Jared says, and I giggle.
“Did you hear that, Janice? Even if he never found me, or you succeeded, he literally would never have chosen you. So you have done nothing but ensured you have no future. You will never have your destined beloved or children all because you wanted mine. The good news is I’ve decided it definitely won’t happen today. I want you to wonder every day if that day will be the one where I send you to the goddess. So don’t get comfortable.”
I turn, moving out of the cell. Jared pulls me into his arms and buries his nose in my neck. “That was very f**king hot, my queen. I’m going to need you alone in our chambers,” Jared says, and a shiver rolls down my spine. He pulls back and lust swirls in his eyes. “Hello, sister, still standing right here,” Mona says and I giggle. I pull back and Mona pulls me into her arms. “I can’t wait for you to meet Clarice and Chrissy. They are going to love you,” she says.
Simone POV
I mean it. Chrissy and Clarice are definitely going to love her. She will fit right in with the three of us. It’s
hard to believe how much my life has changed in such a short time. I’ve got my brother back. I have my beloved. I have three sisters and two brothers. I have three sets of parents that love me. I desperately want everyone to meet Jared and Noreen.
“Do you think that you and Jared could come to the Inn for dinner? I’d really like to introduce my blood family to the one that chose me.” “Of course, would it be alright if Phillip came with us. He is going to be my personal guard from now on,” Noreen says, looking at my brother, who nods. “Of course, we can ask
Nick and Clarice to set an extra place at the table.”
“Mona, I don’t want to ruin the moment, but you know what it means for Trevor to have the gift he received from the goddess,” he says. The smile on my face quickly fades. “Jared, I appreciate that as king, you are thinking about the kingdom, but this hasn’t been my home in a very long time.”
“Simone, I don’t understand. What is Jared talking about? Is my gift a bad thing,” Trevor asks. I offer him a sad smile. I take his hands in mine. “Absolutely not. Your gift is amazing. It also means that now you can mark me, so I’m pretty excited about that. It also means that everything will be more intense between us,” I say and wiggle my eyebrows at him. A cheeky smile crosses his face.
“Brother in the room,” Jared says and I chuckle. “The beloveds of each royal are given specific gifts to help them rule the kingdom, Trevor. Noreen has the gift that lets her hear thoughts. It helps the king to know when a fae needs to be punished. If they are keeping secrets or hiding things that are considered illegal in our world. You have the gift that strips a fae of their powers. Your gift is meant to help the king and his second carry out the guilty fae’s punishment. I was born to be my brother’s second.”

“Mona, I know you aren’t ready,” Jared starts to say, but I cut him off. “No, I’m not ready. I don’t know if I’ll ever be ready Jared. You aren’t the one that was treated like a burden and bargaining chip. You weren’t the one that he hated because you simply existed.” I fight the tears that threaten to fall. Trevor’s arm tightens around me and he presses a kiss to my temple.
“I’ve built a life in Noel, Jared. Besides, I am not going to miss out on seeing the little girl that is meant to be my daughter too, grow up. I love you, Jared, and I’m glad that we had the chance to talk things out. I want to be part of your life now, but I can’t give up everything to live here. Not after all he did to hurt me.”
My father’s voice saying my name has my whole body stiffening. I turn to look at the man that I so desperately wanted to love me. The man that was willing to give me away. “We were just leaving. Jared can fill you on everything.” “Simone please,” he starts to say, and I swear I see regret in his eyes, but I know
that’s not true.
If anything, he wants to make peace with me to keep the peace with Jared. I’m not stupid enough to think otherwise. “We will see you two at dinner,” I say, before grabbing Trevor’s hand and teleporting us back to my apartment. As soon as we appear he scoops me up in his arms and just holds me while I finally let the
tears fall.
