Chapter 124: Sprained Ankle

KEITH’S POV

"You’re the one who’s threatening to fight me in court," she said to. "What do you mean we don’t have to be so hostile."

"I’m not trying to threaten you I’m just letting you know what I intend to do," I explained to her as I followed up after her.

""Youre not making any sense Keith why won’t leave my son and I alone?

What was it with you?"

"Jasmine don’t you think you’re being a little too dramatic?" I said to her.

"I’m telling you I don’t feel safe in yours or Diana’s company," she continued.

I looked at her as she spoke. In her eyes I sensed desperation. Fear.

My eyes softened. what are you so afraid of Jasmine? I thought to myself. She and Diana and didn’t like each other but it shouldn’t have been more than that.

However, the fear in her eyes made me feel there was more to it.

"Why would you want to co-parent with someone whom you don’t trust? You have a fiancé and a son whom you chose to be your heir. Why waste time with me?" she asked.

My lips pressed together because she was right. I didnt have an explanation as to why I was intent on joint custody.

"Like I said Tony is still my son. I haven’t formally chosen my heir," I told her avoiding everything else she had said. "Marco and Anthony are both only 9 and 10. There’s still years to come before that."

"Dont act like it’s not obvious who you’ve chosen already," she said to me. I went ahead of her and blocked her path.

"Jasmine wait let’s talk," I said to her.

"Dont try to stop me," she said to me dismissively. "I’m getting Tony and I’m leaving, this instant."

I couldn’t let her leave yet, but I didn’t want her to feel like I was trapping her. I was set on getting joint custody regardless but I at the very least I didn’t it to feel like a war between us. She walked past me and I grabbed her arm.

"Dont touch me!" she snapped at me she then forcefully pulled her arm away from me. The force propelled her forward. The heel she wore then got stuck in the ground and grass.

"Careful, the ground is soft ," I said to her. She aggressively tried to pull her shoe out.

Her leg then twisted and a loud snap sounded. Her foot became free of her heel and she fell to the ground. Her heel had broke. She sat up and winced as she inspected her ankle.

Realising she was hurt, I got closer to her and knelt by her side. I lifted her off her feet and carried her in my arms.

"Keith put me down!" she said to me as she struggled in my arms.

"Relax," I told her. "Your leg is injured."

"I just sprained my ankle, it’s nothing serious," she said to me as she continued to try to free herself. "I can walk on my own."

"Even if you can walk, your heel is broken you’ll be walking barefoot. Let me get you new shoes and have your leg checked out."

"I’d rather step on the dirty ground then," she said.

"You’re not going to die, relax," I told her.

I took her towards the small building of the go-karting area. I was kind of glad she’d injured herself I had an excuse to delay her departure. Anthony who was riding his kart on the track came towards the building and parked his kart.

"Mum you’re here!" Anthony said excitedly as he took off his helmet and came towards us.

"Tony, are you alright?" Jasmine asked him. Her tone changed completely from how she spoke to me. Her tone was sweeter and her face completely lit upon his arrival. She even had a smile on her face.

He nodded his head. "Are you enjoying yourself?"

"Yeah, go-karting is quite fun," he told her.

"I told you he’s fine," I reiterated to her. "There was no need to worry."

"Well we both don’t trust each other, isnt it?" she spat out at me in a whisper. Her eyes glared at me momentarily before they softened as they turned back to look at Anthony.

"Are you okay?" Tony asked her as his eyes glanced from her to me, wondering why I was carrying her.

"Yeah, I just sprained my ankle, but, I’ll be fine," she said to him.

Upon arriving at the building, I stood in the front ’porch’ / veranda by the entrance to the building.

Inside the building was the reception where guests would make requests for go-karting sessions.

There were several benches on the porch I placed Jasmine on one of them. She looked relieved when I finally put her down. Did she hate my presence that much?

I went one of the many bodyguards that were standing around.
