"Keith must you go thus far?" she asked me. "
"You’re not giving me a reason to trust you. Why can’t you give me a straight answer for everything I’ve asked so far. You won’t tell me how you changed the bank transactions either. I will thoroughly investigate then," I told her. Her refusal to speak was quite telling.
I anticipated that Diana may be lying to me but I never could have imagined it would be this bad. I was doubting everything about her. The fact that she would lie to me when I trusted her. The vision of the broken girl I had met when we were teenagers was fading.
"Was I just a joke to you? Did none of this mean anything to you? Why would you go this far?" it was taking a concerted effort to have a civil conversation with her because the rage coursing through my veins was about to reach it’s limit.
Her lip quivered and tears formed in her eyes. "Keith you just suddenly broke up with me one day without warning. The future we could have had was suddenly taken away from me because of Jasmine. I just wanted us to me
"And so that justifies everything? You’ve done!?" I asked her in disbelief. "You do realize changing bank statements is illegal? You’ve committed acrime!"
"I—" she stuttered then her eyes averted to the floor.
I scoffed then turned away from her and made to leave the room. I couldn’t go on with this conversation any longer.
"Where are you going?!" she asked me.
"I’m going back to work," I told her. "I’ll deal with you later."
If I stayed in that room with her, chances are I was going to do something I regretted to her. The way she was talking to me it’s almost as if she didn’t understand gravity of the situation. I also had to discuss with my lawyers what to do with her.
"Keith wait!" she yelled after me but I ignored her and continued walking away. "Please, please listen to me."
"Diana if you keep following me I swear you’ll regret it," I said as my hands fisted at my side.
Her footsteps halted at that.
I made my and about of the bedroom my body shaking with rage. My mind was unable to process the confrontation I had just had with her.
Outside the room I found two bodyguards.
"Keep an eye on her make sure she doesn’t try anything and especially to run away,
"Yes, sir," they said.
"I also want a dna test on Marco," I ordered them. "As soon as he gets back from school. Get started on that."
They accepted the order.
midway I stopped and brought my hand to my head. My heart felt like it was about to burst out of my chest.
Today what I had expected to be an open-and-shut case in court turned into a Pandora’s box.
What do I even do now? I thought to myself. Everything was possibly a lie. Everything starting from Marco himself and I had let her. I had let her fool me. Meaning Jasmine had been right the entire time. All those times I had ridiculed her... telling her she was jealous.
