JASMINE'S POV
When Keith returned to the estate later that night I anticipated what he had discovered related to what I had told him about the possible culprit. I felt so restless and agitated as I could only wait. My son was missing and I was here trapped by my psycho ex. With no access to any devices the situation was just painful. To pass the time I spent the day going through the file trying inform myself and memorise every detail of what Keith had discovered so far since my attack.
I was seated in one of the sitting rooms on the upper floors of the estate when he entered the room. I relief and anxiety at the same time. The side that hated him for keeping me against my will and the side that tolerated him since we were looking for our son clashed with each other.
"Jasmine," he said my name as his eyes met mine.
"Did you find something?" I immediately asked as he walked into the sitting room.
"How are you feeling?" He asked me.
"We don't have that kind of relationship, don't even start," I dismissed him, wanting him to answer my question. I was only tolerating him because Tony was more important. I was going to get in the habit of exchanging pleasantries with him.
An expression I couldn't read was on his face as he sat on the seat opposite mine. "For months now…" he started. "I've been suspicious of the financial reports I've been receiving to approve at the HQ. It always feels like the budgets spent on projects are different from the expected budgets. However, when I double-check and ask for more comprehensive reports on the budgets, everything somehow checks out."
I brought a hand to my chin as I contemplated what he was telling me. The scenario reminded me of Gatwick, who had been stealing money from the Garden House. It's possible this culprit was doing the same at the Acland Group.
"So I've been wondering if I was imagining things or if there really The drafts you showed me might be a start to uncovering any foul play. The problem is that there is no one at the HQ I can task this with. If someone is changing document information, it means one or more of my employees is involved," he informed me. "Essentially, there's no one I can trust, and a lot of work is required to go through the documents."
"Let me help you," I immediately offered. I didn't want to stay at his estate and wait all day. There is a high chance that if there was foul play involved, the culprit was Tony's kidnapper. If that was the case, I would catch him.
"I want you to help me." He said to me. We had both spoken at the same time. My eyes widened in surprise as I realised this. "You're asking me to help?"
"You've been working as 'his' assistant, haven't you? So you know how accounting works and how to read business documents, right?" he asked me.
My mouth frowned at how he still wouldn't say Louis' name. "And here I thought you thought I was only given the position because I manipulated him," I reminded him of the cold words he had once told me,
