Chapter 298: What is she doing now

Before long the manager of the complex came to see me. I told him who I was and what I was looking for. Unsurprisingly, he quickly obliged. He told me he couldn’t let into the Carrington’s apartment and but agreed to let me see camera footage of the building. I agreed.

If Jasmine was hiding in his apartment her plan wasn’t going to work. I would find her and bring her back now.

The manager led to the camera room on one of the upper floors. The man present quickly played back the footage of the last three hours and it showed Jasmine entering the building 3 hours earlier and the Carrington was by her side. They had several bodyguards surrounding them. The footage showed them walk up to the elevator go tot he floor of his apartment and enter it. He was holding her hand as they walked together.

My jaw tightened at the sight. I already knew Jasmine had escaped with his help and expected her to be here but it just hurt for it to be confirmed like this. I held her the day the day before. I kissed her! It just confirmed that Jasmine really had lied to me. She had me fooled. My hand formed into a fist.

As I continued to watch the footage it showed her and the Carrington leaving the apartment building through the garage about two hours later. About half an hour before I arrived. If I had been earlier I could have bumped into them. I felt annoyed by this.

So she had left the building. My eyes furrowed in confusion as I wondered where on earth she was going now.

"Any idea where they could have gone?" I tried asking the manager who was standing next to me. I already knew what the answer would be.

"Uh, no sir. We have no idea," he told me.

I thanked the manager for the footage and told him I would leave. I also told him to inform me if they returned.

I walked out of the camera room and made my way to the elevator. I felt frustration flow through my body. We were wasting even more time now with all this.

My phone rang in my pocket as I entered the elevator. I answered it and it was my lawyers. They were calling to inform me of the progress they had made in the ransom note response. They were formulating documents to pretend I had actually signed off the the company. They key was they would be really convincing at first. It would be hard for one to tell for a while that they are fake. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

The ransom said they would first verify the documents were real and then send over Tony.

Of course Edwards helpers (Diana and others) would eventually find out the truth but they wouldn’t know for a while. I just might be able to buy time and get Tony.

I felt irritated at how I should be with my lawyers in person right now instead of looking for Jasmine. I’m doing this for our son and you choose to be so reckless! I approved for the lawyers to finalise the papers and I would see them by tomorrow before we sent it off. I finished the call as I exited the apartment building and headed for my car.

A few moments after the call I received another call. It was my mother I realised as I read the name. I let out a tired sigh. This was not the time talk to her.

"Mother what is it?" I said into the phone.

"I just wanted to find out how you are and how things are going so far," she told me.

"She’s runaway."

"What do you mean she’s runaway?"

Exactly that," he said.

"But just last week you told me she was coming

She was lying to me and ran away from my estate," I repeated.
