Chapter 45: Father and brother-in-law

KEITH’S POV

I grunted as I lifted the heavy weights from bench press. I was at my work gym as I took a small break from working. I had my thousandth meeting of the day in an hour and then I had to go to a gala in the evening. I thought letting off some steam would help me. I often worked out when I felt overwhelmed.

As I continued to lift i noticed a figure from the corner of my eye approaching. It was my assistant Edward.

"Sir, your next meeting is in 30 minutes I would suggest you start preparing for it," he informed me once he was close to me.

"I’ll be done in a minute I said to him. I have an update on Jasmine for this week," Edward informed me.

"Go on," I told him to tell me as I continued lifting.

"Nothing out of the ordinary, she drops of the young master Anthony at school herself using public transport, then she goes to work.

I put down the weight and looked at Edward.

"She hasn’t tried to contact me at all?" I asked him in surprise.

"No, sir." Edwin answered.

It had been almost two weeks since I had visited Jasmine at her home. I had been thinking about that interaction since then. I still couldn’t believe what transpired. Jasmine had asked for all her servants to leave the house, to do her chores by herself and also to

It made sense Jasmine’s been acting strange overall and when I went to see her she seemed angrier than usual. I scoffed as I remembered. That little fiesty attitude of hers was surprising but somewhat amusing. However, her pettiness would get her no where.

However, if it was out of pettiness I was expecting it to back fire. As someone who had never worked a day in her life I expected her to struggle doing everything for herself.

On the day I had wanted to refuse her suggestion but after determined look she gave me made it seem like she was challenging me.

I had ordered one of my men to keep an eye on her in expectation of her regretting her decision.

I had sent out someone to keep an eye on Jasmine so that when she eventually became overwhelmed I would quickly be able to step in. However, I actually hadn’t expected her to not contact me. Was she actually managing all that work alone? It couldn’t be.

So she actually prefers to use public transport and to work like a servant? Doesn’t she have any pride as a socialite? It was ridiculous. She had never worked or done for herself like this.

"I’ll have to plan another visit to her home later this week. Perhaps during the weekend, fit her into my schedule," I told Edward. I have to see for how she was doing and once again try to understand this new "phase" of hers.
