Chapter 68: Talk to Me

"Jasmine," the person said. Surprised the person knew my name I looked at them. It was a woman and my eyes widened as I recognised her. She used to be one of my friends before Diana turned them against me.

"What is wrong with you?" She said with a disgusted face. "I saw what you did to Diana’s face. You’re such a monster. No, wonder Chairman Acland left you," she said to me.

My expression dropped as I realised she was referring to Diana’s black eye. Diana must have been going around telling everyone that I was the one who had punched her. I remembered she had said she was going to ruin my image further.

As I looked at the woman, I stood still, as if frozen in place. I thought of that night Diana had barged into my house. I thought of the emotional argument I’d had with Keith afterwards. Things I’d forgotten about throughout the course of the day were coming back to mind.

"What’s going on here?" Louis asked as I heard him come up from behind me. The women looked his way, then looked at me before they turned away and left. I continued to look after them. I felt embarrassed that Louis had to witness me go through that.

"Let’s go, Jasmine," Louis said, and I followed him. "Don’t mind them," he told me as we made our way back to the table.

Louis was right. I shouldn’t mind them. I should just ignore them the same way I ignored the others at the F1 stadium. However, everything that had happened to me this past week was flooding my mind.

As we sat back down at the booth I took the glass I had been drinking and gulped it down quickly. Why was what happened affecting me? I wondered and thought to myself. I didn’t have a good alcohol tolerance I probably shouldn’t. Especially since I’d already had two glasses at dinner.

Once I was done I took another bottle.

"Jasmine, are you alright? You seem different after bumping into those women," he pointed out to me.

"Aren’t you ashamed to be seen spending time with a woman who has a nasty reputation

"Jasmine, I told you I can’t make assumptions about you based on rumours nor would I be embarrassed around you," he told me without hesitation.

"I wish everyone were like you," I said as I scoffed I took another swing of the glass of wine. I just needed to forget my pain. I don’t

"Jasmine, maybe you should go a little easy on the alcohol," he asked me as he looked at me in concern.

" I’m fine," I assured him. My words were already starting to slur. I lifted the glass once more and took another large gulp of the wine.

He then got closer to me and sat right beside me in the booth.

"Jasmine, alright I think that’s enough for the day," he said as he took my hand and removed the glass from it. He then put it on the table. "Jasmine, it’s okay, he said to me as he proceeded to wrap his arms around me and hug me. "You don’t have to do this. Talk to me," he said to me.

Feeling his muscular arms wrapped around me and the warmth of his wide chest awakened something in me. I felt supported, like someone was there for me. I then felt tears stream down my face.

"I just can’t wait to be free from him..." I then cried into his shoulder. "I can’t wait to divorce that man.

" I can’t go through this again." [Sniffle]

"My first life was already enough." [Sniffle]

I would say something and then sniffle. I don’t remember everything I said to him either, it was all random outbursts. I cried in his arms for a while as he quietly caressed me. He didn’t say anything just let me cry. I soon felt myself grow tired as time passed due to the alcohol. My eyes opened and closed.

I suddenly felt as if I was being lifted. I was feeling so dizzy, my head spinning. When my eyes would open I would see Louis carrying me. Was I imagining things?
