"Have you told anyone about this?" I asked Rebecca.
She shook her head. "I haven’t told anyone," she replied as her voice cracked. I brought my hand to hers and held it to comfort her. "Not my family, not my friends, I was so scared after his threats."
My heart broke for her. Rebecca had been through a harrowing experience and she had to keep it to herself all this time.
She cried for a bit after sharing her story. I patiently waited for her as I held her hand in support.
"Rebecca, I am so sorry that you had to go through this," I sincerely apologized to her once she’d calmed down a bit. I felt awful for having made her relieve that horrible experience.
"So what happens now?" she asked me as she wiped away her tears.
"Well, I will finish this investigation and once we have Mr Gatwick dealt with, we will contact you. I promise you Rebecca I will get you the justice you deserve," I promised her.
I know it was a big promise to make but I was determined after hearing the gruesome details of what he had done to her.
Rebecca looked I to my eyes for a moment as if searching for something.
"I hope I can trust you," she said in the end.
We then said our goodbyes and left the cafe.
Upon arriving at work. I helped finish breakfast service which was already well underway. Rebecca and her harrowing story were on my mind as I worked. Knowing she was keeping it all to herself I wished I could take the story to Louis this instance. However, in case her confession wasn’t enough and Gatwick tried to deny the accusations, catching him in action would be extremely useful. I unfortunately had to wait for the plan with Megan.
"Gatwick should be coming this Thursday," Mike informed me during our lunch break. "I overheard the manager talking to the chefs about whatever month end reports they are working on."
That was in two days time I thought to myself. Megan wasn’t on shift now but he was. She was going to be working the dinner shift instead.
"Both you and Megan will be on shift for most of the day right?" I asked him. The listening and recording material was being delivered to Louis home today so I could bring it to work the next day and explain everything to Megan since we would be on shift at the same time.
"I still have a bad feeling about this," Mike said.
"I know you’re worried about Megan," I told him. "Like I said to you I promise I won’t let anything happen to her. I’ll go in there myself if I have to."
Again I understood why he was so hesitant.
Mike scoffed. "Its not like I can stop it now. Megan is pretty determined herself." he told me.
Just two more days I thought to myself. Two more days and I could finally put a stop to Andrew Gatwick and explain everything to Louis. I just hoped it would all come together. I crossed my fingers hoping it all go according to plan.
Once my shift ended, I changed out of the restaurant uniform and left the building. I made way to the usual spot where I would find one of Louis’ cars that waited for me.
I was thinking of all the reports I was going to write tonight about Rebecca and Gatwick tonight. I had the recording in my phone. I would have it all prepared and organised for Louis when I presented it to him.
