I Choose Him, Your Worst Enemy novel Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Fine, I Will Do It

Wynette cut him off. “Just get to the point.”

She didn’t want to sit here and play some fake act about “getting along.”

Noah had been feeling guilty toward her, but the moment he saw her impatient glare, it vanished.

He hated her attitude. He’d already given her an out-what more did she want?

Swallowing his frustration, he finally spoke. “I remember the manager spot in the studio’s planning team has been empty. I thought Lorelei could take it.”

Wynette stared at him in disbelief. “Let Lorelei take it? Noah, we agreed the studio would fill the position internally after the beta test. And now you’re going back on your word?”

He had actually forgotten about it.

If she hadn’t brought it up now, he probably wouldn’t have remembered at all.

His focus had always been on Shepherd Group. He only got involved in the studio because of Wynette.

He didn’t care about the studio’s profits. Even if it lost money, he treated it like spare change.

Awkwardly, he scratched his nose and cleared his throat. “Lorelei just got back. She needs a project to boost her resume. I have a stake in the studio too. What’s wrong with putting someone in?”

By the end, his voice was full of confidence.

He did have a stake. Placing someone there? Totally fine.

Seeing him like this, Wynette knew arguing was useless. She just laughed.

“So… you pulled Shepherd Group’s funding with only a few days until beta, just so Lorelei could get into the studio?”

Honestly, she felt a mix of disappointment and a tiny bit of hope.

But it was clear now-she’d been too naive to expect anything from this guy.

Noah looked stunned. “Pull funding? What are you talking about?”

He had no idea.

But Wynette could see right through him. His expression was fake.

Something this big wouldn’t happen without his say. Shepherd Group wouldn’t just decide on its own.

Seeing the mockery in Wynette’s eyes, Noah immediately grabbed his phone and called his assistant to ask about the studio pulling the funding.

The assistant explained on the other end. Yes, Noah had given the order to pull back all cooperation with the Jewell Group. He was just following instructions.

So technically, the assistant hadn’t done anything wrong. It was all Noah’s idea.

Noah’s face tightened. He hung up coldly.

He glanced at Wynette and tried to say, “I really didn’t—”

But halfway through, he stopped.

No matter what he said, she probably wouldn’t believe him. It wasn’t worth the effort.

Then he spoke again. “I can have Shepherd Group keep funding the game, but Lorelei has to help. This game has to have her name on it.”

The meaning was clear: if Wynette wanted the game to launch smoothly, she had no choice but to accept Lorelei being dropped in.

Even if it was unfair to the other team members who had been working overtime for months.

For Lorelei, Noah didn’t care. He went through with it anyway.

Wynette crossed her arms and stared at him coldly.

She felt nothing but sadness.

The game was almost finished. Just a few days left until launch. Shepherd Group had even promoted it heavily.

The studio’s previous games had done well too. Preorders had hit over a million in less than an hour.

There was no turning back now.

If this launch got messed up, the studio would take the hit.

Noah knew all that. And yet he was still forcing her hand for Lorelei.

He really outdid himself this time.

If Wynette refused, the game wouldn’t launch. All the hard work of the studio team-day and night-would be wasted.

But saying yes meant letting Lorelei jump in and was a total slap in Wynette’s face.

Everything was done, and the game still had to have Lorelei’s name on it. Noah was openly humiliating Wynette.

He was willing to go this far, all for Lorelei.

Wynette clenched her hands at her sides.

Her anger felt like a storm inside, but she couldn’t show it in front of them.

It stuck in her chest, making her feel sick.

Refuse, and the team’s hard work would go to waste. If she said yes, her pride would be crushed. Either choice was awful.

Noah didn’t take his eyes off her.

He could feel her anger burning under the surface.

For a moment, he even wondered if he’d gone too far.

Then Lorelei lightly held his hand, her eyes full of gratitude.

That one look pushed down the guilt and doubt he felt.

He thought, Okay… yeah, I’m being unfair to Wynette. I’ll make it up later.

If she agreed, he’d have his assistant handle it, and the deal with Jewell Group could continue.

Consider it his way of making things right.

He thought he was being sincere.

Now it was up to Wynette.

Their eyes met.

Noah stayed cold and firm. No backing down.

Wynette looked calm on the outside, but inside she was torn.

Finally, she made her choice.

She picked up her cup and looked at him. “Fine. I’ll do it.”

So the favored get everything, and the rest get nothing.
