I Choose Him, Your Worst Enemy novel Chapter 110

By the end of the meal, Wynette was lost in thought.

More than anything, she couldn't stop wondering why Adriel was helping her so much.

Alice quietly studied Wynette from the corner of her eye, then glanced at the calm and composed Adriel, instantly understanding the situation.

Some men would go to ridiculous lengths to keep the person they liked close to them, yet still be too scared to confess.

The thought made Alice curl her lips into a quiet smile.

Jamie leaned closer beside her and whispered into her ear, "What's got you smiling like that?"

Before coming to Scenaville, Jamie had said the wrong thing because he couldn't keep his mouth shut, and Alice had been cold toward him ever since.

She barely wanted to speak to him, much less give him a pleasant look.

So seeing her smile now made Jamie curious.

Alice shot him a sidelong glance. "You wanna know?"

Jamie stared at her expectantly, his curiosity written all over his face.

Seeing that, Alice let out a soft snort. "Why should I tell you?"

The moment she finished speaking, she looked away, making it obvious she had no interest in dealing with him.

After getting shut out again, Jamie felt utterly helpless.

He turned toward Adriel and cleared his throat. "Wanna grab a couple of drinks later?"

Jamie was practically dying of regret inside.

If he'd known Alice would be this hard to coax, he never would've run his mouth and upset her in the first place.

Adriel noticed the tension between the two of them and nodded. "Sure."

He turned to Wynette and quietly told her the plans for after dinner.

Wynette wanted to say he could just go with Jamie and Alice without her.

But then she remembered how much Adriel had helped her today. If she refused to go, it would feel a little unreasonable.

After thinking it over, Wynette nodded in agreement.

After dinner, Adriel and Jamie continued discussing business.

Wynette turned to Alice and said, "There's a clock tower nearby, Ms. Tate. Wanna take a walk and let the food settle?"

Alice was fine with that. "Sure. And you can call me Alice. No need to be so formal."

"Sure, Alice," Wynette replied obediently.

Alice smiled.

The two women left the private room one after the other.

As they walked, Wynette introduced the surrounding sights to Alice.

Alice mostly listened quietly the entire time.

Occasionally, she responded, but she spoke very little overall.

When they finally reached the clock tower Wynette had mentioned, Alice smiled at her. "I heard this place is a popular date spot for couples. There really are a lot of them around."

On the way over, she had already spotted quite a few couples.

Only then did Wynette remember that detail, and she laughed. "Look at me, completely forgetting that. We should've brought Mr. Lawrence along too."

Alice's smile froze for a second.

Seeing her expression, Wynette's heart skipped. Oh, no. Did I say the wrong thing?

"Jamie and I aren't in a relationship," Alice spoke with a faint smile.

Her expression stayed calm, without revealing any emotion.

Now, it was Wynette's turn to be stunned.

What...

Alice turned to her with a smile. "Surprised? Jamie takes care of me like a boyfriend would, but we're not dating."
