The moment Wynette followed Alice out and could no longer see Adriel, her tightly wound nerves finally relaxed a little.
Watching Wynette visibly breathe easier, Alice chuckled. "Why are you hiding from Adriel like a mouse dodging a cat?"
She could already tell something definitely happened between Wynette and Adriel.
The atmosphere between the two of them was obviously different from last night.
Wynette looked at her in surprise. "Am I?"
She wanted to ask if she'd really been that obvious.
If even Alice noticed it, then Adriel had probably sensed it even more clearly.
Is the way I'm avoiding him too obvious? Too cruel?
Just as Wynette started spiraling into self-doubt, Alice smiled and pointed it out directly. "Yeah, it's pretty obvious. Let me guess."
She paused for a moment and pretended to think before continuing, "Did Adriel confess to you while drunk last night?"
Wynette's heart skipped a beat.
She suddenly remembered Alice joking with her last night, asking if she was the person Adriel liked, and Wynette had denied it back then.
Thinking about it now felt unbelievably awkward.
Looking at Wynette, Alice said, "Honestly, it wasn't hard to figure out. Jamie and I both knew there was someone in Adriel's heart. As for why he never confessed, we didn't understand it at first either.
"Then later, he contacted Jamie and asked me to bring my team to Scenaville to help you. That's when we started suspecting something. Jamie even shamelessly made a bet with me about when Adriel would finally confess to you."
Although Alice had warned Jamie not to push things too hard right away, even she hadn't expected it to happen this quickly.
All she could say was that Adriel moved fast.
Wynette stayed silent as she listened to Alice analyze everything. Truthfully, she didn't even know how to describe her current feelings.
That morning, she'd genuinely been startled. She hadn't thought about anything except escaping first.
Now, she simply didn't know how to face Adriel anymore.
She still couldn't sort through her own emotions.
Wynette needed time to process and accept the fact that Adriel liked her.
Alice could tell what was going through her mind and gently advised, "Just follow your heart. If you don't know how to face him right now, then be honest about it. Give both of you some space to think things through. Just because you're confused now doesn't mean you'll never like him later.
"Who knows? Maybe one day, in some random moment, you and Adriel will suddenly click. Don't let this become a burden to you. Just let things happen naturally. Nobody can control feelings, and they definitely can't force them."
When it came to relationships, Alice had always believed in never making things harder on herself.
If something was meant to happen, it would happen. If it wasn't, forcing it was pointless.
After hearing Alice's words, Wynette suddenly felt much clearer-headed.
She thought Alice made perfect sense. Instead of torturing herself over it, maybe she should just relax and follow her true feelings.
It really did clear her head in an instant.
While shopping with Alice, Wynette received several messages from Adriel.
"Did I scare you? Sorry. I didn't expect you to give me an answer right away. I just felt like I should fight for myself.
"You don't need to pressure yourself so much. It's okay. Just because you don't like me right now doesn't mean you won't in the future.
"We can start as friends and slowly get to know each other!"
Looking at his messages, Wynette lost herself in thought for a moment.
She could tell Adriel genuinely hadn't confessed just to burden her.
If she were being honest, Wynette didn't dislike Adriel at all.
