On Monday, when Wynette arrived at the studio, Noah and Lorelei were already there.
A group of employees had gathered inside, whispering among themselves.
Before she even got close, Wynette heard Jasmine’s voice. “Mr. Shepherd, let’s wait until Ms. Jewell gets here before making any decisions.”
Noah’s expression didn’t look good.
Standing beside him, Lorelei appeared aggrieved, softly saying, “Noah, forget it.”
The atmosphere had turned icy.
“What’s going on?” Wynette walked out of the crowd and broke the stalemate.
The moment Jasmine saw her, she hurried over. “Ms. Jewell, you’re finally here! Mr. Shepherd wants to give Lorelei your office.”
Everyone was already unhappy about Lorelei’s sudden appointment.
Now she had just arrived and immediately wanted to take Wynette’s office. As Wynette’s assistant, Jasmine was the first to object.
The rest of the team felt the same.
That was why everyone was standing outside Wynette’s office, confronting Noah.
Hearing Jasmine’s words, Wynette looked up at Noah.
Sensing her gaze, he touched his nose and cleared his throat before explaining, “Your office faces south, gets good light, and has a great layout. It suits Lorelei better.”
Wynette’s office was spacious and well-lit.
Back then, Noah personally chose that office for her, proudly saying it would help her work comfortably and efficiently.
And now, he wanted her to give it up for Lorelei.
Everyone knew how much Wynette had contributed to the studio. Noah’s decision had already sparked dissatisfaction among the staff.
Looking at her upset colleagues, Wynette glanced at Lorelei, who was hiding behind Noah.
A faint smile curved on her lips. She turned to Noah. “Can I ask something? Is it Lorelei who wants my office-or you?”

Lorelei tightened her grip on Noah’s arm and quickly shook her head, her eyes filled with grievance.
Before coming here, she had indeed casually mentioned that Wynette’s office looked nice.
Noah sensed her tension and gently patted her hand, then answered Wynette, “I made the arrangement for her.”
“Is that so?” Wynette’s eyes held clear doubt.
For Lorelei, he had even resorted to lies-the one thing he used to look down on.
But then again, ever since Lorelei came back, he had been lying to her constantly to justify meeting Lorelei behind her back.
She should’ve been used to it by now.
Noah added, “Wynette, Lorelei’s condition isn’t stable yet. She needs a good environment and something to focus on. You give her your office, and I’ll give you mine. It’s the same.”
When he said he would give his office to Wynette, Lorelei’s face changed slightly, but she quickly forced herself back into a pitiful expression.
Inside, she was grinding her teeth with resentment.
Even so, she couldn’t show it in front of Noah.
She glanced at Wynette and tugged on Noah’s sleeve. “Noah, if Wynette doesn’t want to, then don’t push her. I’ll just find a random workstation. I’m not that picky.”
“No.” Noah frowned immediately.
Wynette chimed in, “I think that works just fine. Mr. Shepherd, even Ms. Barlow said she’s not very picky and doesn’t really need my office. If you just want to make her happy, there’s no need to step on me to do it, right?”
As soon as she finished speaking, Lorelei shot her a furious glare.
She had finally hinted to Noah that she wanted this office, and she had just been putting on a polite act earlier. Yet Wynette actually…
Lorelei just wanted to grab Wynette’s things right in front of her. She had assumed that Wynette would definitely give in based on how much she used to fawn over Noah.
But Wynette knew exactly what Lorelei was thinking. Lorelei had pulled the same trick repeatedly. Noah might fall for it, but Wynette wasn’t going to.
Noah frowned as he studied Wynette.

He realized he was increasingly unable to see through her anymore.
He had expected that when he offered her his office, she would be happy and agree immediately to the swap.
He had his own selfish reasons for doing so.

He knew he had neglected Wynette because of Lorelei. It was the perfect chance to repair their relationship.
He hadn’t expected Wynette to refuse him without hesitation.
Noah’s expression darkened slightly. He said firmly, “Move all your things into my office. This office will stay with Lorelei. It’s final.”
He decided on his own.
Turning to the people watching the drama unfold, he said coldly, “Help Wynette move her things. Why are you just standing there? Do you want me to move it myself?”
The crowd exchanged glances but didn’t move. In the end, everyone looked at Wynette.
She
gave them a reassuring look.
Then she turned to Noah and asked, “So, has the decision been made? Are you ordering me to move out as my boss?”
All she wanted was for him to say it clearly.
Noah felt uncomfortable when he heard that.
He had only meant to discuss it reasonably with her. But she framed it as if he were issuing commands from a superior position.
Why couldn’t she just talk to him properly?
The more he thought about it, the more irritated he became. His face went cold. “Think whatever you want. Wynette, what’s wrong with you lately? Can’t you stop being so sarcastic?”
Wynette withdrew her gaze. “Okay, I get it. Since you want me to give up the office, I have no right to refuse.
“Jasmine, please ask a few colleagues to move my stuff out. Just put it over there.” She pointed to a dusty workstation in the corner.
Jasmine looked troubled. “Ms. Jewell, are you really going to sit out there with us?”
Why should she?
